Biography
"So long as it's fun, right? Right?!"
Wild and unpredictable, this golden runner is unlike anybody else!
An unpredictable firebrand born with an extra helping of free spirit. She's prone to some dramatic swings in mood and motivation—one moment she could be setting up an elaborate punchline, and in the next you would be hard-pressed to get her to move. She seems to get along with anyone and everyone, but it is unclear just how she views her bonds with others. Truly, one could call her Tracen's greatest mischief-maker.[1]

Appearance
Gold Ship has long straight silver-gray hair with straight bangs that cover her forehead. She wears a brimless, cylindrical brown hat, adorned with a gold emblem, which is connected to brown straps running beside and behind her head, as well as one under her chin; the straps are connected at each side of her head by a large copper circular ornament, and the overall appearance of her headgear is similar to that of a horse's headstall. Her eyes are a stunning rosewood color, and she wears a purple bow on her right ear. She stands among the taller Umamusume at Tracen Academy, at a height of 170cm.
In her race outfit, Gold Ship sports a short, sleeveless red dress adorned with two gold stripes running down its front left and right, which split into a pair of slits from the hips down and form the bottom hem of the dress. Six gold buttons are found at her abdomen between these gold stripes. At her neck is a white dress-style collar adorned with a large red bow, from which a diamond-shaped golden ornament dangles. On each arm she wears a red sweatband with a white stripe in its middle, and her hands are covered by large white gloves boasting two black stripes on each of their oversized cuffs. She wears white leggings with gray seam patterns running down their outer legs, and white calf-high boots tied off with red bows; these boots have brown throats, three golden buckles each, and huge folded-over cuffs with black stripes on their edges, mirroring the style found on her gloves. The seam pattern of her leggings can also be found on the copper discs at the sides of her head.
Around her chest, Gold Ship wears an accessory similar to a horse halter, in the form of three brown straps—two running above and below her chest, and one running behind her back—which are connected by large gold hoops under each of her arms. The straps are adorned with small gold studs. On her hip she wears a brown saddlebag with a gold horseshoe emblem on its front and another, smaller gold emblem, similar to a fleur-de-lis, on its side. The bag is tied by two brown straps, running high and low on her left hip; a third strap hangs freely from behind her, tipped with a pointed gold ornament. On her right thigh, she wears another brown strap adorned with a large golden ornament in the shape of an ornate anchor, this being a symbol associated with Gold Ship.
Relationships
- Mejiro McQueen - Friend.
- Gold Ship often pulls pranks on McQueen and drags her into various antics. McQueen's dignified Mejiro family upbringing makes her the perfect target for Gold Ship. Some notable pranks include: kidnapping McQueen into Spica by putting her in a sack, putting hot mustard in her snacks, and fake crying to get McQueen to race with her. McQueen calls Gold Ship "a pest who won't leave me be" and is known to flee when she hears Gold Ship's voice approaching. However, she is also there for McQueen to help cheer her up when life gets her down. The two are teammates on both the anime-only team, Team Spica, and the game-only team, Team Sirius.
- IRL, McQueen was the damsire (maternal grandfather) of Gold Ship.
- Nakayama Festa - Friend. They often play games and entertain Orfevre together, along with that they both work together in order to prank Fenomeno.
- Orfevre - Friend, classmate and rival. Orfevre is one of the few people who is completely unbothered by Gold Ship's antics, instead finding great entertainment in them.
- Dream Journey - Friend. Dream Journey is grateful to Gold Ship for being friends with Orfevre.
- Fenomeno - Friend and rival. Often a victim of Gold Ship's pranks. Gold Ship likes to prank and tease Fenomeno, since she tends to react poorly every time. Fenomeno feels frustrated about her, since Gold Ship is a bad influence yet she is popular with children, while Fenomeno tries to be a good role model but gets little attention. Despite the pranks and the teases, Gold Ship does care about Fenomeno; as before, she has gifted Fenomeno a bouquet of flowers[2] and is one of the primary reasons why Fenomeno continues to race.
- Stay Gold - Friend and roommate. She once referred to Stay Gold as Golden Pops "Konjiki Oyaji" (Golden Pops). She also seems to value Stay Gold's opinions, being one of the very few people that Gold Ship deeply respects.
- IRL, Gold Ship, Nakayama Festa, Dream Journey, Orfevre and Fenomeno are all sired by Stay Gold.
- Gold Ship, Nakayama Festa and Orfevre ran in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in real life, with Gold Ship finishing 14th on his run and both Nakayama Festa and Orfevre coming close to winning but not quite clinching it.
- Stay Gold and Gold Ship was planned to be stablemates, that is until Stay Gold died earlier before Gold Ship's move to Big Red Farm.
- IRL, Gold Ship, Nakayama Festa, Dream Journey, Orfevre and Fenomeno are all sired by Stay Gold.
- Tosen Jordan - Rival. Out of all of the Umamusume in Tracen, Gold Ship seems to like messing with Jordan the most, as Gold Ship will come out of nowhere to try and kick Jordan or mess with her head, though the two hold no bad blood between each other and can still be amicable to one another.
- IRL, Jordan was presided as stable boss in the same place Gold Ship resided at. As such, he would often harass and kick him.
- Eishin Flash - Friend and classmate.
- Gentildonna, Fuji Kiseki, Hishi Amazon, and Smart Falcon - Classmate.
- Gold Ship likes to try and get Gentildonna's attention, which greatly amuses the latter. Gentildonna also acknowledges Gold Ship's strength, as she is undoubtedly a strong racer despite her antics.
- Grass Wonder - Friend. Despite their clashing personalities, they get along well.
- IRL, the two of them were good friends during their time in Big Red Farm, as Gold Ship would always stomp his foot, greeting Grass Wonder.
- Special Week, Silence Suzuka - Teammates on both the anime-only team, Team Spica, and the game-only team, Team Sirius.
- Tokai Teio, Vodka, Daiwa Scarlet, Kitasan Black - Teammates on the anime-only team, Team Spica.
- Vodka and Daiwa Scarlet tend to get annoyed by Gold Ship.
- Rice Shower, Winning Ticket, Narita Brian - Teammates on the game-only team, Team Sirius.
- Gold Ship defends Rice Shower when onlookers insult her for defeating Mihono Bourbon, and tries to cheer her up.

Trivia
- She acts as the primary host, virtual YouTuber (VTuber) and the self-proclaimed PR manager for PakaTube (ぱかチューブっ!), the official YouTube channel for the Umamusume: Pretty Derby franchise.
- Gold Ship insists the title is official despite various videos indicating she is self-proclaimed, thus she constantly asks the staff to remove the parenthetic addition.
- Her initial character profile was uploaded to the official Twitter account on March 1, 2017.
- Gold Ship is often associated with the number 564. This stems from Japanese wordplay, wherein the number 5 can be read as go, 6 can be read as ru, and 4 can be read as shi; when put together, these three numbers spell out Gorushi, Gold Ship's nickname.
- "Umamusume: Pretty Derby Artworks Vol.1" explains why her character designer made specific choices when designing her in relation to her real-life counterpart:
- The golden emblem on her leg strap is designed to represent a ship's anchor, in reference to her name, Gold Ship.
- Her outfit is red with white trim, reflecting the color of her real-life counterpart's jockey silks. Likewise, the white and red bands around Gold Ship's arms reflect the white bands on the sleeves of these jockey silks.
- The six golden buttons on her dress represent the six G1 wins of her real-world counterpart.
- On a similar note, Gold Ship is often associated with Rubik's cubes, as they have six sides. She is often seen with a Rubik's cube in the anime.
- In the anime, despite Gold Ship suffering numerous injuries and mostly in the eyes, she is always seen in perfect shape as if those injuries never happened.
- This is a reference to her in-real-life counterpart being in perfect form and only received minor injuries during the course of his career.
- Gold Ship's signature racewear has multiple red ribbons on it, most likely a reference to her in-real-life counterpart wearing one during his career. In horse racing, a horse with a red ribbon tied to its tail is usually a sign meaning, "careful, I kick!". Additionally, Gold Ship was known to kick without warning.
