Fenomeno is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

Biography

"Patrol's complete; the perimeters are all clear! I will now shift to guard duty within the academy premises!"

An Umamusume with a strong sense of justice, serving the Public Discipline Committee. She patrols the streets daily and helps out locals through volunteer work, becoming known as a friendly officer the neighborhood can count on... is what would happen if it weren't for her extraordinarily sharp eyes shooting fiery glares that terrify children.

Likes Calligraphy, writing thank-you letters
Dislikes Hair wax, mint candy
Ears She secretly likes making its fur look dignified.
Tail It tends to sway in front of the Boss.
Family They all prefer tsubuan (chunky red bean paste).
Secrets She likes the circular sliced patterns of fruits and vegetables.
She often stumbles upon relocating families of ducks.

Appearance

As described, Fenomeno carries intense and sharp eyes, deep violet and slanted with purpose. Her hair is raven black with strong purple undertones, spiky and wild yet somewhat controlled, descending just to her back. Along the sides of her face, longer strands flow slightly below shoulder length and curve inward, a bit smoother than the rest of her hair and slightly softening her face. She can be seen adjusting her large navy-blue officer's cap, its dark visor accented with yellow stripes. The cap's black band features purple chevron patterns and displays an emblem of her position. And also, relative to other umamusume, her tail is incredibly thick.

Her uniform is akin to that of a traffic cop combined with a warden, Navy black in color and fitted with utility pockets, thick buttons, heavy reinforcements and red harness straps. These straps secure a semi-reinforced tactical coat to the right side of her outfit. Each sleeve features a yellow stripe running design along the sides, and, near her left shoulder hangs a yellow shoulder cord. A thick, heavy-duty skirt attaches to her left hip. Her straight-cut pants features more yellow stripes running along the sides, with additional pockets and straps hanging from the right side. Her long black boots are zipped up and have noticeable straps wrapping near the ankle.

Relationships

  • Bamboo Memory - Chairman of the Public Discipline Committee.
  • Bubble Gum Fellow - Roommate.
  • Gold Ship - Friend and rival. Gold Ship likes to prank and tease Fenomeno, since she tends to react poorly every time. Fenomeno feels frustrated about her, since Gold Ship is a bad influence yet she is popular with children, while Fenomeno tries to be a good role model but gets little attention.
  • Stay Gold - Friend.
  • Orfevre - Friend. Orfevre likes to tease and pull tricks on Fenomeno, much to the latter's dismay. Fenomeno feels frustrated regarding her, because Orfevre is more popular with children compared to her. She does not view Orfevre as a good role model to children, and she wants to defeat her in races.
  • Dream Journey - Friend. As Journey is the most polite out of the Umamusume in the Expeditionary Support Committee room, Meno rarely has any problems with Journey and they usually don't have qualms with each other. However, when it comes to prying too much, Journey easily manipulates situations so that Meno doesn't look into certain things, like when Meno questioned what exactly Journey was doing in suspicious areas around the school. Regardless, Journey acts cordial towards her, since Orfevre likes having her around so that she can tease her with Gold Ship and Nakayama Festa.
  • Nakayama Festa - Friend. Nakayama also likes to tease Fenomeno when they are together.
    • IRL, Nakayama and Fenomeno are connected through their shared main jockey, Masayoshi Ebina.
    • They also descend from Danzig’s sireline.
      • IRL, Fenomeno, Gold Ship, Orfevre, Nakayama Festa, and Dream Journey are all sired by Stay Gold.
  • Tosen Jordan - Friend. Jordan would sometimes offer to paint Fenomeno’s nails, and most of the time Fenomeno would accept it.
    • IRL, they have raced against each other four times.
  • Eishin Flash - Friend and classmate.
    • IRL, Eishin Flash was able to win against Fenomeno at the Tenno Sho (Autumn) in 2012.

Trivia

  • She was announced during the 4th Anniversary PakaLive TV stream on February 22, 2025.
  • Her dad is a police officer. She would always play as a cop with him and her mother.
    • In chapter 3 of the Golden Christmas Eve event story, it was revealed that Fenomeno only wanted a police notebook for Christmas, but she was gifted a whole police set instead, with a uniform, cap, flag and notebook included.
  • She is one of the few Umamusume to have different colored ears. Other Umamusume that have different colored ears include Loves Only You and Casino Drive.
  • Her family's preference for red bean paste is a nod to her nickname, "Mamechin", which is referring to kuromame (sweetened black soybeans).
    • This nickname originates from real life, as his trainer, Hirofumi Toda, nicknamed him this because his coat resembled kuromame.[1]
  • Fenomeno's love and care for children is a reference to how in real life, Fenomeno became a lead horse for foals at Oiwake Farm after retirement.[2]
