Biography
"I can wield magic, you know! 'Cause I'm Magical Girl Sweepy!"
A totally spoiled brat! She swears she'll be a witch someday!
A stubborn grandma's girl, she aspires to one day become a magical girl. Hoping to match her grandmother, a self-proclaimed witch, in magical prowess, she truly believes that if she keeps on winning races, her magic will also level up in turn. Since she's still learning magic, she often falls back on the good old-fashioned way of solving problems—with force. When she starts crying, it's hard to get her to stop.

Appearance
Sweepy, the most adorable and undeniably powerful magical girl in all the lands, is as captivating as her legend. Her striking violet eyes shimmer with an ethereal brilliance, their piercing gaze capable of humbling even the strongest souls. Her sharp, commanding eyebrows deliver judgment with an authority that no hapless trainer can escape. Auburn hair cascades in radiant splendor, with soft, uneven bangs adding mischief and graceful side locks framing her bubbly face. Her signature braids, styled into elegant loops, and flowing twintails—adorned with gleaming gold and crimson ornaments, perhaps forged by the gods themselves—no doubt designed to contain her limitless magic.
Her witch’s cap, a most treasured gift from her grandmother, features golden bands and ear pockets tailored for her horse ears (Apparently they're just decorative and her ears are tucked somewhere else but we don't need to know that) tipped with the same ornaments you can find on her hair and capped off with a cute red ribbon. Her robe is a masterpiece, unmatched by any witch. Its black exterior contrasts with a rich purple lining, golden embroidery (seemingly stitched down) dance along the hem, seamlessly blending with a striking red and yellow diamond pattern that can also be seen near her chest. Her open robe is fastened at the top and cinched by two belts—one practical, one decorative—it reveals a red cardigan over a shirt and tie. Naturally, she wears pristine white gloves—truly the height of elegance. And finally, a layered white skirt with red trims contrasts beautifully with the robe’s dark tones, while her thigh-high black boots, sleek and capped with golden heels.
Relationships
- Air Groove - Upperclassman. Sweep seems to see the Vice President quite often for... disciplinary concerns. While Air Groove is strict with her, she sees great potential in Sweep as a racer. Though she initially views her as just an underclassman, she changes her approach when seeing Sweep's strong running and treats her as an equal. Despite her behavior, Sweep has respect for her deep down.
- Fuji Kiseki - Upperclassman. Dubbed the wizard to Sweep's witch for handling her mischievousness and seemingly always being one step ahead of her. She also tries to encourage Sweep to eat her vegetables, much to the latter's dismay.
- Kitasan Black - Friend. She is seen hanging out with Sweep, and shows genuine interest in her magic. Kitasan sees her as a nice girl deep down, while Sweep finds Kitasan to be interesting.
- In real life, Sweep Tosho had a foal sired by Kitasan Black in 2019 named Piedra de Luna.
- Kawakami Princess - Friend and rival. They watch Princess Fighter every Sunday morning together, and they bond together as the witch and the princess. Sweep also encourages Kawakami when she's in a slump, and wants her to run in her own way regardless of the risk.
- In real life, Sweep Tosho and Kawakami Princess challenged each other a few times. Most notably, they competed with each other in the 2006 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, where Kawakami Princess obstructed Yamanin Sucre and got herself disqualified.
- Rhein Kraft - Friend. Rhein Kraft looks up to Sweep, and got inspired to pursue the Triple Tiara because of her insistence that Tiara route runners are strong. She also helps Sweep out with magic from time to time. Sweep finds her annoying sometimes, but does help her out when it comes to mentorship.
- In real life, both Rhein Kraft and Sweep Tosho were sired by End Sweep.
- Zenno Rob Roy - Friend and rival. They are like-minded individuals (not in personality) who are obsessed with fantasy, and are seen together regularly. While Rob Roy is obsessed with being a folk hero, Sweep is obsessed with being a witch, and they both like to read fantasy books in the library. Sweep enjoys teaching Rob Roy about magic, and Rob Roy herself seems to believe in her power and strength. Rob Roy admires Sweep as a friend and rival, and vows to defeat her in future races.
- In real life, they challenged each other in the 2005 Takarazuka Kinen, where Sweep Tosho defeated him in an upset win. They also challenged each other in the 2005 Tenno Sho (Autumn), where they both lost to the long-shot mare Heavenly Romance.
- Orfevre - Friend. Sweep gets easily annoyed by Orfevre's standoffish personality. Orfevre tolerates her interactions and does not object to drinking her potions from time to time, and they occasionally hang out together.
- Durandal - Friend. Sweep likes to cast magic on her, especially on her birthday. Durandal greatly respects Sweep as a witch, and even addresses her as Witch-dono out of reverence.
- Dream Journey - Friend and upperclassman. Sweep is jealous of Journey's prowess at persuading people, and asks her for help on how to manipulate people better.
- In real life, all of them were jockeyed by Kenichi Ikezoe, and were known for being the most difficult horses Ikezoe had to deal with.
- Sweep Tosho and Orfevre also had a foal together, simply named Sweep Tosho 2015 due to never receiving a race name. Due to Tosho Farm's closure in 2015, it is unknown what happened to this foal.
- In real life, all of them were jockeyed by Kenichi Ikezoe, and were known for being the most difficult horses Ikezoe had to deal with.
- Fusaichi Pandora - Friend and rival. While Sweep gets annoyed with Pandora sometimes, they can get along from time to time. At times, Sweep teaches her how to be a proper witch, in which Pandora affectionately nicknames her "grandma" because Sweep has also mentored Rhein Kraft before.[2] During summer camp, Sweep teaches her a "magic spell" so that Pandora could cool off, which in reality was just her spraying her with water.[3]
- In real life, Sweep Tosho and Fusaichi Pandora competed with each other a few times, most notably in the 2006 Queen Elizabeth II Cup that Fusaichi Pandora won.
- Still in Love - Friend. Despite mistaking her for a vampire due to Still's alter ego, Sweep tries to help Still and cares about her well-being.
- In real life, Still in Love and Sweep Tosho competed with each other a few times, most notably in the 2005 Takarazuka Kinen where Sweep Tosho defeated her.
- Admire Groove - Upperclassman and rival. Sweep wants to challenge Aruvu, while Aruvu is unbothered by her.
- In real life, Sweep Tosho and Admire Groove competed with each a few times, such as in the 2004 Queen Elizabeth II Cup and the 2005 Takarazuka Kinen.
- Biko Pegasus, Mayano Top Gun, and Nishino Flower - Friends and classmates.
- They all train and hang out together, and Biko and Sweep get along as Biko likes to play the role of a hero, while Sweep likes to play the role of a witch. Flower affectionately calls her "Sui-chan" (Sweet Pea in the global version), and Maya understands Sweep when she gets stubborn. They also team up together in the fan festival, showing their friendship. Sweep also tends to rope them into hijinks from time to time.
- Tokai Teio - Friend. Teio watches over Sweep sometimes, and is the one to tell Groove to stop acting "motherly" towards Sweep. She also challenges Sweep in proving that Triple Tiara route Umamusume are stronger, which annoys Sweep.
- This connection is due to Tokai Teio's relation to an NPC Umamusume in Sweep Tosho's story, who is based on Yamanin Sucre. In real life, Tokai Teio is Yamanin Sucre's sire.
- Agnes Tachyon - Friend. Sweep gets roped up into her experiments. Despite finding Tachyon weird, she thinks she is interesting and smart. She is also interested in the concoctions Tachyon makes, much to Tachyon's delight.
- In real life, they both had a foal together, a filly named Jewel Tosho in 2009.
- Stay Gold - Friend. Sweep makes her face masks and potions for her from time to time, and Stay Gold is interested in her obsession with magic.
- In real life, they both had a foal together, a colt named Tosho Victor in 2013.
- Daiwa Scarlet and Vodka - Friends. Scarlet finds Sweep admirable as an inspiration for other Tiara racers, as she changes the Tiara route for the better. Meanwhile, Vodka finds her cool for the fact that she changed the reception of the Tiara races from "elegant" to beyond that, showing a raw and rough element of the Tiara route. They also help her out with her racewear photos, and Sweep sometimes rope them into "magical" situations.
- In real life, Sweep Tosho only competed with Daiwa Scarlet and Vodka one time in the 2007 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, where Daiwa Scarlet won the race.

Trivia
- Her initial character profile was uploaded to the official Twitter account on May 18, 2017.
- This tweet was a character name prediction quiz, that encouraged fans to try and guess which horse she's named after. The hint was "She calls herself “Magical Girl Umamusume”. She rarely listens to her trainer, and if she is not in the mood, she will not move an inch for 30 minutes."
- Her primary race outfit, obsession with magic, and grandma are likely inspired by the American sitcom Bewitched.
- This in itself is likely a reference to the fact that the real-life Sweep Tosho's dam, Tabatha Tosho, and granddam, Samantha Tosho, were both named after characters from the show.
- She is secretly afraid of ghosts.
- She despises vegetables. In her SR Speed card, her most hated vegetables are green bell peppers and onions.
- According to her SSR Speed card, she can make medicinal cough drops out of black licorice, albeit they taste like tires.
- She tends to be late to her classes because she practices her magic, which causes her to get extra classes.
- According to her SSR Wit card, she owns a camellia flower hair accessory that her grandma gifted to her.
- In her career mode, there's a random event called "これがやりたい!(kore ga yaritai! meaning "I want to do this!")" that will lock the player out of training options.
- This is a reference to the real life Sweep Tosho, where she was known for refusing to train on a whim.
- While her real life counterpart had a visible blaze and a white sock on her left hind leg, this was not incorporated into her Umamusume counterpart's design.
- Because her grandmother tends to flowers and has a garden, Sweep's "spells" are actually named after flowers. For example, the chapters in her character story are named after flowers. In her solo song, she also yells out "alstroemeria", known as the Peruvian lily.
- Her grandmother is also good at engineering, and added mechanics to Sweep's hat.[4]
- In her career story, there is an NPC Umamusume titled "Umamusume With a Light Blue Ribbon" who is seen hanging around Sweep, but got injured after running with Kawakami Princess.[5]
- This NPC is a reference to the real horse Yamanin Sucre, who raced with Sweep Tosho in the classics and beat her in the 2003 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies. However, she developed tendonitis after the 2006 Queen Elizabeth II Cup due to Kawakami Princess' obstruction during the race.
- Another nod to this connection is in Sweep Tosho's optional Arima Kinen event, where she races with Tokai Teio. In real life, Tokai Teio is the sire of Yamanin Sucre.
- She is very good at playing Daruma-san ga Koronda, the Japanese version of the children's game Statues.[6]
- She is ticklish, despite threatening to tickle others.[7]
- She is talented at making facial masks for skincare.[8]
- She loves to eat sweets, and especially likes parfaits.
