Kawakami Princess is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

Biography

"Unyielding, noble, and vigorous! That's what it means to be a princess!"

She dreams of being a princess! A bold spitfire of an Umamusume.

A scrappy girl who aspires to ascend from the confines of ordinary life into royalty. She was always a bundle of energy growing up, but after watching a certain anime in which a princess fights hand-in-hand with a prince, she's been able to channel her zeal toward her future dreams—the least of which includes walking the path of a princess and finding her own prince one day. She admires King Halo as a mentor.

Appearance

Kawakami Princess has long pinkish-brown hair, that fades into a saturated pink at her wavy tips. Her hair is parted down the center, with very large hair intakes, exposing her forehead completely, and has her hair tied into braids on either side of her head. She has large ears, and on her left ear is a silver ring with upside-down heart shaped etchings, and a red and blue striped bow. Her eyebrows are small and thin, and she has large bright blue eyes, with vertically long pupils in the center.

Kawakami's race outfit is as pink as pink can be. Her vibrant pink princess dress is held up with a dark pink halter top with a cutout on the chest, embellished with white and dark pink decor. Around her neck is a white choker with three green diamonds. Her poofy pink dress that is decorated with green diamonds has a cutout in the center, revealing two pleated layers, one pink, and one white with a pink stripe. She wears detached sleeves that frill out at the ends, with white trim on either arm, both arms also sport a pink and green cuff around her upper arm. She wears white thigh-high socks with a 'V' shaped cutout, each with a pink line across the top, and a green diamond in the center. Her boots, also sporting a "V" cutout are bright pink with elaborate white trims.

Relationships

  • Seeking the Pearl - Roommate.
  • Sweep Tosho - Friend and rival. They watch Princess Fighter every Sunday morning together, and they bond together as the witch and the princess. Sweep also encourages Kawakami when she's in a slump, and wants her to run in her own way regardless of the risk.
    • In real life, Sweep Tosho and Kawakami Princess challenged each other a few times. Most notably, they competed with each other in the 2006 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, where Kawakami Princess obstructed Yamanin Sucre and got herself disqualified.
  • Fusaichi Pandora - Friend and rival. Fusaichi Pandora views Kawakami Princess as a rival she must surpass, as they are both rivals in the Triple Tiara route. Though she loses to her multiple times, she eventually finds the strength to beat her. Outside of racing, they are good friends. They both enjoy watching Princess Fighter, and have nostalgic memories of watching the show.[1]
  • King Halo - Role model. Kawakami admires King because she is similar Princess Fighter's main character, Shiny Princess. Despite King finding Kawakami rather inconsolable, she tries to help her, especially to help her become more ladylike, albeit with limited success.
    • King Halo is Kawakami Princess' sire in real life.
  • Daiwa Scarlet - Underclassman and friend.
  • Vodka - Underclassman and friend.
  • Biko Pegasus - Friend.
  • Mejiro Dober - Friend.
  • Katsuragi Ace - Upperclassman. Ace can be seen giving training advice and encouragement to Kawakami.
    • Katsuragi Ace's main jockey, Nishiura Katsuichi, had also trained Kawakami Princess in real life.
  • Dream Journey - Friend. Dream Journey always gives her tea, and in return, Kawakami Princess gives her information about Princess Fighter.
