Umayon Manga Introduction
A Pro Wrestling Loving, Energetic Umamusume. Her Mask Belonged To Her Father.
Appearance
Making her way to the ring... the high-flying, gravity-defying, dynamite force of nature—El Condor Pasa!! And just look at her tonight—brown hair flowing like a storm down her shoulders, ready to take flight and slam a horse with her patented elbow drop! Her Big Bang bangs are in perfect form, flanked by those iconic framing locks, and of course, her legendary crimson mask, the same one passed down to her by her great father, rests proudly over those sharp, sparkling blue eyes. Her hair’s tied just right, no tricks, no games, and check it out: perched atop her ear, the lucky striped ruffle that’s seen her through countless victories!
Rocking that classic red ensemble tonight—her signature long coat, trimmed with those unmistakable feathered fringes along the hem and laced with those bold golden crisscross patterns. Beneath it, the familiar yellow V-neck shirt, decked out with shining buttons that catch the light, paired with her pleated blue skirt, held firm by her fearsome belt, complete with its black design, golden buckle and red stripes. Woah! El Condor Pasa is sporting cropped black leggings and sharp red heels! Could this be a signal, folks? A hint that she’s got a new move ready to debut? If so, someone’s about to be in for a very rough night!
Relationships
- Grass Wonder - Best friend and roommate. Teammates on the anime-only team, Team Rigil. Grass has a habit of pulling on her tail to keep El in check, much to the disdain and slight fear of El and despite that, Grass cares for her deeply. They both seem to be the ones that understand one another the most, and have a healthy rivalry on the track. Grass also keeps El's secret of owning a hawk in their dorm room under wraps.
- Special Week - Friend and rival. Due to their similarly energetic personalities, El and Spe are very close friends, as El teaches Spe how to do special wrestling moves and how to name them, shares food sent from her family with her, such as cacti used with steak or as a smoothie, and even offered to share her strategy on how to beat Montjeu, who beat El in the Arc. El was also the one who taught Spe the French phrase she uses in the Japan Cup (though Spe is clueless about its actual meaning).
- King Halo, Seiun Sky, Tsurumaru Tsuyoshi - Friends and classmates.
- IRL, El Condor Pasa, Special Week, Seiun Sky, Grass Wonder, King Halo, and Tsurumaru Tsuyoshi make up the Golden Generation, a group of horses that began racing in 1997 who dominated the majority of the Classics and their four year races.
- IRL, Grass Wonder and El Condor Pasa were American-bred and Japanese-trained horses who shared the same jockeys, Hitoshi Matoba and Masayoshi Ebina.
- Seeking the Pearl - Senior. El looks up to Pearl.
- Taiki Shuttle - Friend and Senior. Teammates on the anime-only team, Team Rigil. Taiki usually shares the steak she gets from her family with El during her barbecues, which the latter is reminded of her home in the States.
- IRL, Seeking the Pearl, Taiki Shuttle and El Condor Pasa were the first American-born, Japanese-trained horses who won a international G1 in France. During El's expedition in France in 1999, El stayed in the same stable Taiki Shuttle resided in the previous year.
- Air Groove, Symboli Rudolf, T.M. Opera O, Narita Brian, Hishi Amazon, Fuji Kiseki, Maruzensky - Teammates on the anime-only team, Team Rigil.

| Chinese (Hong Kong/Traditional) | 神鷹 | Divine Falcon | Translated name by HKJC. His name is based on El Cóndor Pasa (The Condor Passes) - an orchestral musical piece by the Peruvian composer Daniel Alomía Robles, written in 1913 and based on traditional Andean music, specifically folk music from Peru. HKJC re-imagined the name based on the meaning. |
Trivia
- Her initial character profile was uploaded to the official Twitter account on April 12, 2017.
- "Umamusume: Pretty Derby Artworks Vol.1" explains why her character designer made specific choices when designing her in relation to her real-life counterpart, which were as follows:
- Due to her real life counterpart wearing a blue belly band with red lines, the belt she wears around her waist is reminiscent of that.
- Due to her name being of Latin descent, her design features a lot of motifs reminiscent of a Luchador outfit.
- Due to winning many left-turn races at the Tokyo race course, she wears a brown band on her left leg.
- Her pet bird is named Mambo, which may be a reference to her real life counterpart's sire - Kingmambo.
- El can speak four languages, being English, Spanish, Japanese and French.
- When unmasked, El possesses a plain face that could mistake her for a mob Umamusume and displays a very shy personality, referencing her in-real-life counterpart's early years as a shy horse and the impressive track record, race aptitude and pedigree under his belt.
- In the fifth episode of the first season of the anime and in the game, El Condor Pasa participates in the Japanese Derby, which was impossible in real life due to foreign-bred horses being unable to participate in the Classics prior to the JRA loosening restrictions in 2001.
- Due to the fact that the real El Condor Pasa never lost a race until the Mainichi Okan, where he and Grass Wonder lost to Silence Suzuka, in the anime, it was made so that both El and Special Week won the Derby by declaring it a dead heat, though it removed the real Special Week's impressive 5 length victory.
- Her inclusion in the Japanese Derby is due to the almost exact finish times Special Week and El Condor Pasa performed in the 1998 Japanese Derby and the 1998 Japan Cup respectively.
- Despite having a white marking in real life, this was not adapted in her Umamusume design.
