She grew up in a less fortunate environment, but her power comes from her persistent spirit—you won't find much getting her down. She and the effortlessly funny Oguri Cap make for a good comedic duo.[1]

Cinderella Gray Anime Introduction
An Umamusume with a strong Kansai dialect, active in the Central's Twinkle Series. She may be small-statured, but she boasts incredible skills, as she is described as "the strongest active Umamusume". Ever since she saw Oguri Cap running in Kasamatsu, she has been conscious of her due to Oguri being a fellow gray Umamusume.[2]
Umayon Manga Introduction
A Proud Osaka Girl At Heart, Tho' I'm Small, My Effort And Guts Are Risin'!
Appearance
Tama has long gray hair that curls up into spikes at the ends. Each fringe of her bangs comes to a neat point at the end. She wears red ear covers, with a red and blue ball on her right ear, and a red headband around her forehead. On top of her head, she wears another blue and red headband, and at the end of either side are golden clips with long red and blue tassels attached at the end. She has large blue eyes, and a snaggle tooth on the left side of her mouth.
For her race outfit, she wears a blue cropped sports bra with a red band, and a white lightning bolt on the center. She also wears white pants with a red stripe on either seam, and the ends are cuffed just under her knee. She wears a blue belt on the belt loop, and a red and white striped belt hanging off one side of her hip. Over top of this outfit, she wears a blue jacket with red trimming and a red collar, with the kanji "疾風迅雷" (Shippuujinrai "Swift Thunderclap") written on it and separated into half on each sleeve. She has white gloves with a blue lightning-bolt pattern on either hand. Over top of her red socks, she wears blue high-top sneakers with red heels and white laces, and the sneakers have a white lightning pattern.
Relationships
- Oguri Cap - Friend, rival, and roommate. Tamamo usually tends to look after Oguri due to the latter's obliviousness and naivete, and is usually the one that Oguri comes to for advice. Tamamo lit a fire in Oguri when it came to racing, and they both get fired up when competing against each other. While Tamamo gets exasperated by Oguri's airheaded nature from time to time, she still genuinely cares for her as a friend. Oguri also appreciates her friendship, and would even eat less if Tamamo said she couldn't buy her a lot of food for her birthday.
- The two had an incredibly heated rivalry together in real life, even though they only fought thrice. They first encountered each other in the 1988 Tenno Sho (Autumn), where Tamamo Cross defeated Oguri Cap. In the 1988 Japan Cup, they both lost, though Tamamo was a place above Oguri. In their final race together, the 1988 Arima Kinen, Oguri Cap surged past Tamamo Cross and defeated him for the first and final time.
- Super Creek - Friend. Super Creek treats Tamamo like her own child, often pampering her, and making sure she takes care of herself so that she'll grow big and strong. This tends to annoy Tamamo, despite Creek meaning well.
- IRL, they raced once, in the 1988 Arima Kinen.
- Inari One - Friend and genmate. Inari is very similar to Tamamo in both mind and size, as both of them are highly reactive to others.
- IRL, despite being in the same generation, they never raced, as Tamamo Cross retired before Inari One transferred to the JRA.
- Lucky Lilac - Friend. They train together, and both of them have Kansai dialects. They also relate to each other as the "straight men" in the academy.
- Masami Komiyama - Tamamo Cross' trainer in Cinderella Gray.

Trivia
- Her initial character profile was uploaded to the official Twitter account on March 30, 2017.
- This tweet was a character name prediction quiz, that encouraged fans to try and guess which horse she's named after. The hint was "Her stature may be small, but she's a competitive girl with an indomitable fighting spirit! Some refer to her as "White Lightning"."
- Tamamo Cross's race goals during her career playthrough are set on Senior Year. Although, she has another goal of placing 3rd or higher on graded races before her first race goal.
- This is in reference to the real horse's career where most of his graded races are from his four year old season.
- Before appearing as an Umamusume, its IRL counterpart became the inspiration for the character Midori Makibaō in Midori no Makibaō.
- There is also a collab illustration on Weekly Young Jump Issue 39 with Tamamo Cross and Makibao in the style of Cinderella Gray Manga
