Biography
"Oh no... Someone like me shouldn't be racing... But still..."
In order to change her outlook and herself, this pessimist gives it her all.
Her self-esteem droops as low as her ears. Things never seem to go quite right for this clumsy girl. Even so, she's determined to change herself for the better and doesn't want to ever give up, all for the chance at securing a brighter future. She admires T.M. Opera O's grandiose self-confidence.[1]

Appearance
Meisho Doto has short brown hair that curls inwards to frame her face. She has a large white patch in the middle of her bangs, as well as a white curled ahoge that zig-zags at the base. Her eyes are purple, with swirled pupils in place of normal pupils. Her ears are often depicted as drooping downwards and she wears a blue ribbon on her right ear along with a pink headband.
Her race outfit is reminiscent of a mail carrier with a collared white top and a blue overall dress. Her top has a ruffled center and a collar with two black stripes right above the bottom edge. The sleeves have lace ruffles that are tied off with a pink ribbon. She wears white gloves with the same lace ruffles that have pink cuffs with a white stripe in the middle. The bow on her collar resembles a wax postage stamp and has a horseshoe imprint.The two ribbons attached to it are red with a vertical yellow stripe. Her messenger bag is brown with gold edge and a pink strap that crosses diagonally across her body. On the center is another bow and a carrot keychain dangles from the right side. Her dress has golden buttons and accents, with a dark stripe along the bottom. The underside of the pleats are red and lace peaks out from under the dress. She wears plain white loafers with pink ribbons and stockings with alternating blue and red carets.
Relationships
- Admire Vega - Friend and rival of the same generation. Doto is very considerate of Ayabe, and looks up to her as a proper rival to Opera O. A role model second only to Opera O.
- Agnes Digital - Friend.
- Air Shakur - Roommate. Living with Doto makes life difficult for Shakur, but ultimately the two take good care of each other. Doto's chaotic nature contrasts with Shakur's logic, and in a way gives Shakur hope.
- Matikanefukukitaru - Close friend. Fukukitaru does fortune-telling for her, and in the anime they run the stall together. Fukukitaru is always there to support Doto.
- Haru Urara - Friend. Doto really enjoys Urara's company as Urara's positivity always makes her feel better about herself.
- Narita Top Road - Friend and rival of the same generation.
- Taiki Shuttle - Friend.
- In real life, the two retired on the same farms together and were frequently seen together before Taiki Shuttle's passing. Doto also inherited Taiki's blanket and is often seen wearing it during cold days.
- T.M. Opera O - Friend and rival. Doto looks up to her and wants to be useful to her, while Opera wants Doto to understand her true capabilities. The two are almost never apart, and Doto is one of the only people Opera O does not refer to with an honorific.
- In real life, Meisho Doto was T.M. Opera O's rival. Doto finished second to Opera O in 5 consecutive G1s before finally winning against Opera O in the 2001 Takarazuka Kinen.

- Her initial character profile was uploaded to the official Twitter account on June 1, 2017.
- This tweet was a character name prediction quiz that encouraged fans to try and guess which horse she's named after. The hint was "She is a strong competitor but also incredibly shy. In races, she is always beaten by "that classmate" who calls herself the strongest, and she seems to have little self-confidence.
- She is good friends with Taiki Shuttle. This is based on the friendship of the real Meisho Doto and Taiki Shuttle, who both retired on the Versailles and later at Northern Lake Farms. They were frequently seen together until Taiki Shuttle's passing in 2022.
- She is often shown with various animals. These are based on animals the real Meisho Doto lived with in his retirement.
- The cat is based on Meto, a popular cat living on Northern Lake Farm, who Meisho Doto became close with.
- In the mobile game, she has a series of special events if the player make her run the Triple Crown while still with her "Not Ready" debuff.
- As revealed in one of her costume events, Meisho Doto has an extreme spice tolerance built up due to accidentally ordering spicy foods consistently. Even El Condor Pasa and Hishi Amazon, both known to be spice enthusiasts, are challenged by her tolerance, with Doto finding foods they struggle with only a slight bit spicy.[2]
