Haru Urara is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.
Biography
"I won't let losing get me down! Urara, la la la! ♪"
No matter how many times she falls, this girl always picks herself back up!
She's on a losing streak... but she never gives up! While she may not be the most skilled, she experienced the excitement of racing back in Kochi and wanted more. While she completely flunked Tracen's entrance exam, her admissions officer was nonetheless impressed when they spoke by her boundless possibility—which she spreads to all the Umamusume around her.

Appearance
Haru Urara has rose-pink hair that is tied back into a ponytail that reaches to around her lower mid-back. She has short, messy bangs, and wears a tied red headband that causes her long sidelocks to frame the sides of her face. Her ears are covered by dark magenta ear caps, and she has a white bow on her left ear with matching magenta stripes at the edges. Her large, round eyes are a bright pink hue, and she has distinct cherry blossom petal patterns in her irises.
Haru Urara's racing outfit resembles a traditional set of Japanese gym bloomers; she wears a very light, nearly white gym shirt with dark magenta stripes, and dark magenta bloomer bottoms with a single white tag on the left side. On top of the gym uniform, she wears a track jacket that matches the color and accents of her shirt. The jacket's sleeves end at her forearms, and her hands are clad in matching magenta fingerless gloves. She wears light pink-and-white striped socks that end below her knees, and heeled running shoes in the pink-white and magenta color combo as the rest of her outfit. Finally, she wears three band-aids on her legs, with one on her right thigh and two on her left.
Relationships
- Rice Shower - Friend. The two have polar opposite outlooks on life, so Urara's cheery attitude makes for a good contrast when Rice can't seem to get out of her pessimistic mindset. Rice admires Urara's positive demeanor and likes hanging out with her, since no matter what happens, Urara is always happy to be around Rice.
- King Halo - Roommate and friend. While King does see Urara's determination and positivity as a good aspect, King tends to worry a lot about Urara, and usually helps her study and train, as well as help her with personal hygiene.
- The two were likely paired together due to their "never give up attitude," despite not being very successful racers. This attitude made them both beloved by fans.
- Special Week - Friend. She helped Spe find her way around the campus upon first arriving at Tracen. The two of them hang out occasionally. Like many of the other students, Spe finds Urara endless optimism and determination invigorating and makes her want to try harder as well.
- Seiun Sky - Friend. The two of them hang out quite often, such as playing with cats in the park and taking naps.
- Grass Wonder - Friend.

- Mayano Top Gun - Friend. Occasionally, Mayano helps her out with stamina training.
- T.M. Opera O - Friend. Urara finds Opera O's unique eccentricities as entertaining and takes them seriously, such as when Opera O says that laughing makes her stronger.
- Narita Top Road - Friend. Urara and Rice Shower are repeatedly shown cheering on Top Road together, indicating a close relationship between the three.

- Her initial character profile was uploaded to the official Twitter account on April 6, 2017.
- This tweet was a character name prediction quiz, that encouraged fans to try and guess which horse she's named after. The hint was "A lively Umamusume that never gives up, no matter how many times she loses! Go forth, aim for your long-awaited first victory!"
- "Umamusume: Pretty Derby Artworks Vol.1" explains why her character designer made specific choices when designing her in relation to her real-life counterpart, which were as follows:
- Due to being notable for running many, many races, and still continuing to keep running after losing, Urara wears several band-aids to represent her indomitable spirit.
- Urara's real-life counterpart wore a face mask and ear coverings with red trims, represented in her design by the red ear covers and headband.
- Since the real horse wore pink and white bands around her leg, Urara has pink and white striped knee-high socks.
- She likes carrot ice cream, as it is shown in the 19th episode of Umayon, and likes to eat it when it is especially hot during the summer.
- As of this point, Urara is the only playable Umamusume whose real-life counterpart never raced in the JRA since she was a local racehorse. As such, as seen in the first episode of the first season of the anime, she is not in the same class as Special Week and the others.
- Her signature racing outfit is similar to a racing suit for races below G1 races, reflecting to her in-real-life counterpart having never won a single race and never participated in a graded race as all of her races were maiden races.
- Urara's eyes have a distinctive pink-sakura pattern, shared by Sakura Bakushin O, Sakura Laurel, and Sakura Chitose O. There is no connection between Haru Urara and the Sakura crown name, so the design itself may or may not be a reference to her name when translated, meaning "Glorious Spring".
- Ironically, Urara has the pink-sakura patterned eyes, yet Sakura Chiyono O, who despite sharing the Sakura crown name like the other Sakura Umamusume, does not have the signature pink-sakura pattern eyes.
- Haru Urara's casual outfit is similar to the Sanrio mascot Hello Kitty's outfit, namely the trademark blue overalls.
- This is possibly due to her in-real-life counterpart's trademark face mask having several Hello Kitty stickers patched onto it.
- In the game's lobby, she is one of the few Umamusume who skips her steps in a upbeat manner. Other Umamusume who do this include Daitaku Helios, Twin Turbo, Vivlos, and Sonon Elfie.
- Her New Years' alternate racewear's unique skill, 114th Time's the Charm, is named after her 113 races in real life.
