Appearance

Seeking the Pearl has long, dark brown hair that dynamically cascades far past her back. A single strand of hair falls past her eyes. Atop her head she wears bright red sunglasses, and on her left ear is a red scrunchie, decorated with gray trim, and accessorized with a string of pearls and gold charms. Her eyes are purple, and she has a mole under her right eye. She wears lipstick, so her lips are noticeably fuller than other Umamusume.

Her racing outfit consists of an off-shoulder red dress, with various white accents and gold trimming. The collar of the dress folds downwards, tied at the center with a white, red, and black ribbon, and she has two white stars on either side of her chest, The dress' sleeves reach her lower arm, and puff out at the end. She wears a pair of black gloves with gold trimming, with a red band around her wrist. On her right arm is a pearl bracelet, and on her neck is a pearl necklace, with gold and purple gems. Underneath, she wears a cropped black tank top. Her white pleated skirt has a red stripe at the base, and a layer of black pleats underneath. She wears several decorative belts, one black, one white and red, and one purple and red. All meet in the center of her waist, attached with an intricate golden buckle. She wears a pair of black heels, laced above the top line, with a golden toe box. She wears two pearl anklets and a red ribbon around her right ankle, and laced up her left shin is a thick red ribbon.

Relationships

  • Kawakami Princess - Roommate.
  • Stay Gold - Friend. They respect each other as fellow travelers.
  • Mejiro Dober - Friend and rival. Pearl considers her a part of her "family", while Dober is intrigued by her eccentricities, and invites her to tea parties sometimes.
  • Mejiro Bright - Friend and rival. Pearl also considers her a part of her "family".
  • El Condor Pasa - Friend and underclassman. As a fellow American, El deeply admires Pearl, and wishes to get on her level.
  • Taiki Shuttle - Friend and rival. Pearl sees Taiki as a rival she must surpass, and feels an odd familiarity when around her. They both communicate to each other in English sometimes, with Pearl pretending that she is fluent.
    • IRL, Seeking the Pearl and Taiki Shuttle were the first American-bred and Japanese-trained horses to win an international G1 in France.
  • Shinko Windy - Friend. As a team, they call themselves "Worldwide Windy".
  • Dream Journey - Friend. Pearl's dancing tends to exhaust Journey, and Journey can't handle Pearl's extroverted nature.[1]

  • In her career story, there's an event in her classic year called "突然の巨大トラップ!" where she gets diagnosed with epiglottis entrapment shortly after the Rose Stakes.
    • In real life, this happened to the real Seeking The Pearl, where she was forced to rest for months and miss the Shuka Sho because of this illness[2].
  • In her career story's normal ending, Seeking The Pearl not only goes to the United States on a whim, she also claims that she nearly got struck by lightning.
    • In real life, during her five-year-old season, Seeking The Pearl's team suddenly announced that she was traveling to the United States to compete in races there[3]. After that, she was set to compete in Japanese races in the fall, before her team deregistered from the JRA suddenly and sent her to the United States once again. Not only that, her death in 2005 was suspected to be caused by lightning, as there were no apparent injuries on her body that said otherwise[4].
  • Her parents give her a pearl every year.
  • New students mistake her for a teacher when she isn't wearing her uniform.
  • She sings in her sleep.
