Mejiro Ardan is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. She is also featured in the Cinderella Gray manga and anime.

Biography

"History may be recounted later as one likes, yet I choose to shine in the here and now."

She wants to shine bright, no matter how briefly! This well-to-do girl has legs of glass.

A sheltered young lady—ephemeral, gentle, and thoughtful. Despite her fragile, "glass" legs putting her at a disadvantage when running, she refuses to let cynicism keep her down. As a child, her frail body kept her from most recreation and social activities, so she finds community life at the academy to be quite the novel experience.

Appearance

Mejiro Ardan has long, light blue hair, styled in loose waves at the end. She wears a crown braid atop her head, and has blunt cut bangs, parted primarily to the right. On her ear, she wears a teal cuff, lined with golden trim, and attached to it is a pleated red ribbon. She has purple down turned eyes, showcasing her gentle demeanor.

She wears a black dress, adorned with white ruffles both along the neckline, and down the center of the dress, with a golden horseshoe with a circle in the center where the two pieces intersect. It is held up by two teal ruffled straps. Around her waist is a black sash with gold trim, tied at the center with a small red ribbon. The skirt of Ardan's dress is asymmetrical, the left half sporting a thigh-length black skirt with ruffles at the end, and the right side, a white underskirt with teal ruffles and stripes around the base. Around her tail is a light teal ribbon, cut into a scallop pattern at the ends. Despite the dress exposing her shoulders, her right sleeve is long, with a yellow tassel tied around her upper arm, and has a teal stripe down the center. This sleeve has a white ruffle at the end, along with a black glove underneath. Her left arm is bare, aside from a white glove tied with a thin golden ribbon. Both of her shoes consist of white boots with a black base, and teal ribbon tied up her leg. However, her left shoe is ankle-height, and her right shoe is knee-height.

Relationships

• Sakura Chiyono O - Roommate, rival, and close friend. Chiyono looks out for Ardan due to her health, and Ardan appreciates her kindness. Ardan also cares for Chiyono, and shows empathy when Chiyono gets injured after the Japanese Derby.
• Yaeno Muteki - Rival and friend.
• Daitaku Helios - Friend. Ardan is confused yet intrigued by Helios' way of speech, and finds it enjoyable. She respects her as a friend of Palmer's, and even gets interested in gyaru speech herself. To Helios' delight, Ardan even says "wei" on occasion due to Helios' influence.
• Mejiro McQueen, Mejiro Ryan, Mejiro Dober, Mejiro Palmer, Mejiro Bright, Mejiro Ramonu - Family.
  • Ramonu is Ardan's older sister. Ardan wishes to be out of her shadow, and wants to carve herself into history on her own. From time to time, Ramonu helps Ardan out with her hair.
  • Palmer tends to ask Ardan for help on her homework, and Ardan is fond of Palmer's interest in gyaru.
• Agnes Tachyon - Friend. They both like drinking tea together. Ardan is also unbothered by the mysterious glow the tea has when they drink together.
• Super Creek - Friend. They get along well, and Creek refers to her with the "-chan" suffix in a friendly way. She looks out for her, and even helps her with games since Ardan had to miss out on most of them as a child.

• Her first appearance was in a chapter of Cinderella Gray on October 21, 2020, but she made her appearance on the website on February 9, 2021.
• Mejiro Ardan, alongside Mejiro Ramonu and Mejiro Bright, are the only members of the Mejiro Family that have never appeared in the main anime series.
  • While Ardan did not appear in the main anime series, she did appear in Cinderella Gray, which is a spin-off.
• Because she is very used to hospital food, she tends to worry if the food she makes is bland.
• She likes going to theaters to watch plays.
• She is not easily scared of scary things, like tests of courage and eerie restaurants.
• She likes eating konpeito.
• She enjoys kite flying, as she never got to do it as a child.
• She is able to make healthy drinks.
• Her love for going to her favorite Chinese grocery store is a possible reference to how in real life, Mejiro Ardan was transferred to China in October 2000.
