Sakura Laurel is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. She is the main protagonist of the Star Blossom manga series.
Biography
"I'm Sakura Laurel. My goal is the world. The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe! ―Hehe, but it's just a "dream" right now. But... I'll make it come true someday!"
Gentle but persistent. A cherry blossom blooming through winter.
She's a positive Umamusume with an indomitable spirit, who's cheerful, optimistic, and unfazed by every obstacle. She was born with weak legs, and has been plagued by injuries, but she gets back up every time she gets knocked down. She has special feelings for her classmate, Narita Brian, and she hopes to beat her someday.

Appearance
Sakura Laurel has bright reddish and chestnut colored hair, cut into a cute bob-cut that curls inwards, with bangs parted down the middle. She wears a golden laurel crown on the top of her head, and on her right ear she wears a purple ring of diamonds, with gold and purple ribbons attached. She has pinkish-purple eyes with bright pink highlights in the shape of a sakura flower.
Her racing uniform is light, simple, and cute. She wears a white blouse with short, puffy sleeves that have dark pink cuffs and ruffles. Over this, she wears a pink sleeveless vest with a dark gray sailor collar and a thick gold trim. The coat tail of the vest is adorned with a white sakura flower, and has two distinct ribbons coming off either side, both shaped like the petals of a cherry blossom. Underneath the vest is a dark pink top fastened with golden sakura-shaped buttons. A pink ribbon with a gold chain and sakura pins accents the neck. Her wrists are accented with matching pink cuffs with a similar design to her vest. She wears a simple pair of white shorts with gold trim and layered pink ruffles. On her right leg, she wears a dark gray sock with a heart shaped cutout and a gold laurel wreath trim. Her outfit is completed by white boots with pink fold-over tops and dark pink out-soles.
Relationships
- Sakura Bakushin O, Sakura Chiyono O, Sakura Chitose O - Friends and fellow Victory Club members. They are all teammates in the manga-only team, Team Alkes.
- Laurel used to make bento lunches for all of the Victory Club members. When she was younger, Laurel looked up to how positive and hard-working Bakushin was. With Chiyono, she relates to her as Chiyono also suffered an injury that prevented her from racing any further. Chitose cares for all of the club, including Laurel, as she cares for their health.
- In real life, all four of them are owned by Sakura Commerce, hence the crown name "Sakura."
- Laurel used to make bento lunches for all of the Victory Club members. When she was younger, Laurel looked up to how positive and hard-working Bakushin was. With Chiyono, she relates to her as Chiyono also suffered an injury that prevented her from racing any further. Chitose cares for all of the club, including Laurel, as she cares for their health.

- In real life, the horses they are allegedly based on. Sakura Eiko O and Sakura Super O, are also owned by Sakura Commerce.
- Gorou Akeishi, Tsubaki Akeishi - Trainers in the manga-only team, Team Alkes.
- Tsubaki cares a lot for Laurel, and feels guilty every time Laurel suffers from fractures. She looks after her health, and supports Laurel's dream of wanting to compete in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
- Narita Brian - Rival. Brian is Laurel's main motivation, as she wants to race alongside her and defeat her. Laurel also records all of Brian's races for research.
- Samson Big - Friend. As they both admire Brian, they get along.
- Seiun Sky - Friend and roommate. Laurel buys sunscreen for Sky, as Sky tends to get sunburns from fishing outside in the heat.
- Mayano Top Gun - Friend.
- Marvelous Sunday - Friend. Laurel struggles to understand Marvey's behavior and mannerisms, but admires her optimism.
- Sugar Nation - Rival and Friend in Star Blossom. The two met each other in the maiden class, and raced soon after. They contact each other frequently on LANE, with Laurel in particular being very enthusiastic in their messages.
- Snow in Hazard - Rival and Friend in Star Blossom. Laurel talked to Snow in Hazard after the latter's first race, leading to tension that results in Sakura Laurel motivating Snow in Hazard into putting effort into her races.
- Dance Limerick - Rival and Friend in Star Blossom. Both have Narita Brian in their sights during their racing career, and end up forming a bond because of it.
- Celestial Pole - Rival and Friend in Star Blossom. After racing in the Aobo Sho together, they meet again at the Summer Camp and become good friends.
