Sugar Nation is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, featured in Volume 2 of the Star Blossom manga. She is one of Sakura Laurel's first rivals.
Biography
"That won't be happening. Because there's only one victor."
Sugar Nation is an Umamusume with unknown team affiliation, making her first appearance in Chapter 10 of Star Blossom "The Maiden Class". She is one of the few characters in the franchise who have yet to win their debut, aspiring to be like her more successful older sisters, Monsieur Sucre and Sugar Safety. In her childhood, she and her sisters frequently raced each other, always resulting in Sugar Nation lagging behind and failing to catch up.
After meeting with Sakura Laurel on her break, they would race each other at Tokyo Racecourse. Sugar Nation would go on place 2nd to Laurel, both distancing themselves by the other racers by a large margin. The two become friends after this encounter, and would swap contacts on LANE. Laurel would also help Sugar Nation run an ehomaki stand during her next break. A few months later, she makes a brief appearance training in Chapter 17 "What You Really Need", Hishi Amazon notes to Tsubaki Akeishi that her intense battle with Laurel reinvigorated her ambitions to race, which would inspire Trainer Tsubaki to enter Laurel to fight Snow in Hazard. Seven months after, Sugar Nation would finally win her first debut, a 1700m dirt maiden race in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
Appearance
Sugar Nation has light brown hair, with cream-white tips, in a messy bob-cut with straight bangs covering her forehead. Her tail also has the same color scheme as her hair, with the lower half being cream-white. She wears a pink and black polka-dot bow hairclip on the left of her hair, and a miniature flan hat near her right ear, adored with a bright red cherry, pink ribbons, and a white ruffle. She has red and blue dual-colored eyes with bright yellow highlights and a white pupil.

- Monsieur Sucre and Sugar Safety - Older Sisters. Sugar Nation is very proud of both her older sisters, and they serve as her inspiration for racing.
- Sakura Laurel - Friend and Rival.
- The two talk to each other through LANE occasionally, with Sakura Laurel being very enthusiastic and eager in their text messages.
