Rose Kingdom is a Japanese racehorse active from 2009 to 2013. He is known for his victory in the 2009 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes, which earned him the JRA Award for Best Two-Year-Old Colt. He is also known for his controversial victory in the 2010 Japan Cup following Buena Vista's disqualification from the race.

Name Origin

"Rose Kingdom" is a combination of his sire's name "King" from King Kamehameha and his dam's name "Rose" from Rosebud.

Retirement

Rose Kingdom retired to perform stud duty at the Breeders Stallion Station.[1] However, in 2018, he was retired from stud duty due to suffering a head injury. He was then transferred to Versailles Farm, where he currently resides.[2] On September 15th, 2019, a worker at the stable discovered that the mane Rose Kingdom alongside his stablement Taiki Shuttle had been cut. On March 27th, 2020, Kazuyo Tanaka was arrested as a suspect in the case.[3][4]

Trivia

  • Rose Kingdom's neighbor in retirement is Tanino Gimlet. He was seen to be imitating Gimlet's fence-destroying habits, much to the chagrin of the farm staff who attributed this behavior to be Gimlet taking Rose as his disciple.[5]
