Jungle Pocket is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. She is a co-protagonist of the film Beginning of a New Era alongside Agnes Tachyon.
Biography
"I'm Jungle Pocket. If you wanna run, I'll be your companion. Well, I won't give up my title as the "strongest"."
Aiming to be the best as she races down the highway! A charismatic and flawless Yankee.
She is a mischievous Umamusume who proudly claims that she aims to be the strongest in terms of running. She used to be the leader of a group of ruffians in the world of freestyle racing, but was so shocked by Fuji Kiseki's performance that she decided she wanted to race officially. With her friends cheering her on, she is ready to go out with a bang.

Appearance
Jungle Pocket has short, hazelnut-colored hair. The left section of her hair is tied up in a double-banded braid, with the rest either resting messily on the sides or being clipped with the three black hair clips she wears. She has a small ahoge atop her head and an arrow-shaped white streak running across her bangs. She also wears three earrings on her right ear, their colors alternating between soft yellow and light green. Her left ear has a noticeable notch in it. Her eyes feature a gradient that begins moderate orange, gradually fading into a soft yellow color.
As for her race outfit, following the color scheme of her earrings, she dons a yellow and white cropped jacket with hints of light green and black on the sleeves. Underneath this jacket, she wears a black crop top decorated with a yellow bowtie in the center. She wears a navy blue skirt with light green suspenders attached to its belt, with a leopard-patterned fur hanging off the left side of the skirt. She also wears light green socks—the right one worn loosely, while the left sock is a tight fit. As for her go-to racing shoes, she prefers navy blue steel-toe boots with heels that have the same leopard-pattern on the sides as the fur hanging off of her skirt.
Relationships
- Fuji Kiseki - Friend, rival, and a mentor of sorts. She is the main inspiration for Jungle Pocket's quest of becoming the fastest Umamusume alive.
- IRL, both horses share the same owner, trainer, stable staff, and main jockey.
- Agnes Tachyon - Classmate, friend and rival, to the point of obsession. Pocket wishes to beat Tachyon, and gets frustrated at thought of never beating her. Meanwhile, Tachyon finds her interesting, and observes her as a fellow racer.
- Manhattan Cafe - Classmate, friend and rival.
- Dantsu Flame - Classmate, friend and rival.
- Narita Top Road - Roommate.
- Fusaichi Pandora - Friend and underclassman. Jungle Pocket is very strict with her, and dislikes Pandora's carefree attitude when it comes to racing. She wants her to take it seriously instead of like a joke. However, Pocket does like it when Pandora is genuinely determined about something, like when she continues to pester her into going to the convenience store with her.[1]
- Air Messiah - Friend. They get along well, despite their clashing personalities.
- In real life, they both had a foal together in 2010, a filly named Air Muscat.

Trivia
- She was announced during the 2nd Anniversary PakaLive TV stream on February 22, 2023.
- The trio consisting of Jungle Pocket, Agnes Tachyon, and Manhattan Cafe is often referred to as "JAM". But with Dantsu Flame, they are also known as the quadruplet often referred to as "JAMD".
- Jungle Pocket is the first ever semi-limited character to be added to the mobile game. This meant that while she is permanently added to the gacha pools, she cannot be chosen with paid 3-star trainee vouchers.
- She is also the first semi-limited Umamusume to receive an event alternative unit that is not semi-limited.
- Her roar when she wins a G1 race in the game is a reference to her real life Japanese Derby victory in 2001, where after the race, he positioned his head in a way that looked like he was roaring in triumph.[2]
- In her career story, there is an Umamusume NPC named Tsuzuki Raining that hangs around Jungle Pocket.
- This Umamusume is a reference to the real horse Tagano Teio, who was in the same generation as Jungle Pocket. However, his career ended after placing 2nd in the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes, because he sustained a catastrophic injury that forced him to be euthanized.
- She loves eating parfaits.
- She normally calls the trainer 相棒 (aibou), which means partner. However, if she was made to race four consecutive times, she will call you "trainer" in a rather infuriated tone in her special voice line for attempting to make her race.
