Appearance
Believe is a small-statured Umamusume that often has a standoffish posture. Her short fringed hair is a de-saturated purple, with her right side being longer than the left. Her bangs fall over her right eye, and she has a white blaze on her head, the top half being a large blot, with a stripe coming down the center. She also has an ahoge coming off of the top of her head. She wears a red ear cover on her left ear that has a blue stripe at the base, however, it doesn't fully envelop her ear, and instead leaves the bottom of her ear uncovered. She also wears a navy blue headband that goes around her ears, and has two white stripes. Her eyes are pink, fading into a light orange at the end.
For her race outfit, she wears a blue cropped hoodie with short sleeves. Her large hood has not only a white hem, but a zipper around the edge. The base of her jacket has red lines on the front, and a red X on the back. Her sleeves are cut open at the top, with a zipper to close them. Underneath the jacket she wears a navy blue sports bra, and red compression sleeves with a white stripe on either arm. She has a navy blue pair of gym shorts on. Atop of the shorts she wears an interesting set of blue, white, and red baggy pants, with the center holes cut out of them, clipped onto her skirt. She wears a simple pair of black ankle socks, and as for her shoes, she wears navy blue sneakers with light blue heels, and white stripes in the center.
Relationships
- Lucky Lilac - Roommate. The very particular Believe finds relief in her roommate, Lala, for being a dependable presence who always keeps her side of the room in order. The two of them are surprisingly in sync, comfortably living together despite their differences in lifestyle. Though there are times Believe's strong sense of discipline and the awkwardness that comes with it catches Lala off guard, that same discipline is what earns her a deep respect from her roommate and senior.
- The reason they are roommates may be due to them both having won Grade 1 races in a racecourse different from where they are usually held. Believe won 2001's Sprinters Stakes which was held in Niigata instead of Nakayama due to then ongoing renovations in Tokyo (and the subsequent schedule changes this entailed), while Lucky Lilac won 2020's Queen Elizabeth II Cup which was held in Hanshin instead of Kyoto, also being renovated at the time.
- Calstone Light O and Durandal - Friends, rivals and classmates. Though their convictions and running styles may be at odds, what the three of them seek is the same— the pursuit of ultimate speed. Through their strong sense of individuality they have distinguished themselves as the quickest sprinters of their time, measuring up against each other and bumping heads on the racetrack whenever possible. Believe often finds herself in between Durandal and Light O's comedy routine, but her rhythm is not disturbed by it. She even finds that their strong sense of self fits in well with her own. Their unique personalities do not clash, only complement each other. Only through challenging them does she take more steps to become the fastest of all.
- Believe and Calstone Light O were contemporaries belonging to the 2001 generation. They raced each other several times.
- Durandal was a year younger, belonging to the 2002 generation. He also clashed with Believe and by extension Calstone Light O on several occasions.
- Dantsu Flame - Friend. While training for possibility of running shorter distances, Dantsu looks to her same generation contemporary Believe for help. As they train throughout the summer, Dantsu becomes aware of their stark difference in philosophy—while she wants to become a key player, Believe actively rejects standing out. Believe is nonplussed about the matter, but Dantsu's frustration (and confusion) grows as her precious contemporary's hard work and accomplishments go unnoticed by the public.
- Dantsu Flame and Believe were contemporaries belonging to the 2001 generation. They ran together in 2003 Yasuda Kinen.
- Curren Chan - Friend and underclassman. The de-facto ring leader of the "Sprinter Girlies" (whose other members are Daiichi Ruby, Nishino Flower, Aston Machan and Gran Alegria), often organizing parties and get togethers while trying to draw in Believe, who is not one for such festivities (despite them expressly being held to celebrate Believe herself). Despite the mismatch in sensibilities Believe is always thankful towards the gesture. Curren sees Believe as a reliable upperclassman who she can look to for advice and guidance, which may explain her boundless gratitude towards her.
- Believe and Curren Chan's careers are quite similar— both were dominant "Sprint Queens" in their eras, having won both Sprinters Stakes and Takamatsunomiya Kinen, only to have their second Sprinters Stakes bid be thwarted by a younger rival colt (this being Durandal and Lord Kanaloa respectively). They have also both contested the Hong Kong Sprint.
- The others are all mares that have won Sprinters Stakes.
- Wonder Acute - Friend and classmate. As Believe was raised by her grandparents and is doted upon by other senior citizens, it is natural that she finds herself at home with the self-paced old soul Acute. They often engage in old-fashioned pastimes together.
- Transcend - Friend. Transcend climbs mountains with Believe from time to time, the latter being the one with greater experience. Of course, Believe cleanly rejects any solicitations to hang out after the fact.
- They are both owned by Koji Maeda, representative of North Hills.
- Daiwa Scarlet, Buena Vista, Win Variation - Teammates under Kitahara's Team in Cinderella Gray.
- They had all been ridden by the jockey Katsumi Ando, who Kitahara is based on, at some point in their careers. He won his first Grade 1 race with Believe, in 2003's Takamatsunomiya Kinen.
