Eishin Flash is a Japanese racehorse that was active from 2009 to 2013. His racing style was characterized by a powerful last spurt, and he won two G1s: the 2010 Japanese Derby and the 2012 Tenno Sho Autumn.
Name Origin
"Eishin" is the crown name of owner Toyomitsu Hirai and later his company Eishindo Co. Ltd. ; After 2011, the crown name of horses owned by Eishindo would change to "A shin".
Racing career
Two-year-old season (2009)
Eishin Flash made his debut on July 12th, in a 1,800-meter turf race at Hanshin Racecourse. Though he lost and placed 6th, he broke out of his maiden on October 11th, where the distance was increased to a 2,000-meter race. A few weeks later, on October 31st, he placed 3rd in the open-class Hagi Stakes. At the end of the year, he ran in the allowance-race Erica Sho on December 13th, where he won the race.
Three-year-old season (2010)
Eishin Flash began the year with a win in the Keisei Hai (G3) on January 17th, where he clocked the fastest last three furlongs at 34.9 seconds. After the race, he was initially scheduled to run in the Wakaba Stakes due to his success. However, Eishin Flash contracted a fever caused by pneumonia, so he was made to rest and recovery until the Satsuki Sho on April 18th.[1]

Trivia
- The 2012 Autumn Tenno Sho, which Eishin Flash had won in, was the last time the Emperor and Empress watched a Tenno Sho in Heisei. An event like this is named Tenran Keiba (天覽競馬, lit. "Imperial Visit to the Races").
- After winning the race, Eishin Flash's jockey Mirco Demuro dismounted from the horse, took off his helmet and kneeled down in respect. The audience roared in excitement to this act, while both the Emperor and Empress waved back to Demuro. This act was technically against JRA rules as jockeys must not dismount from their horses until post-race weighing, though Demuro did not get penalized for it.
