Brand New Friends was a story event in the Umamusume: Pretty Derby Game that was held originally from March 30th to April 15th, 2021, while the English version of the event ran from July 16th to August 1st, 2025.

Summary

Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond start their new school year at Tracen Academy and not long after they arrive they're up to do some community service after being dragged in some mischief by other Umamusume...

Story

Episode 1- A New Wind Blows

The Season 2 versions of Satono Diamond and Kitasan Black are in the top a of mountain, in there they pinky promise that they will be together forever.

Several years later, they are about to arrive late to see the welcome race because Kita lost track of time helping people and Dia got distracted with random things. In spite of this interruption, they manage to arrive on time to see Symboli Rudolf giving her pre-race speech until she was interrupted by one of the racers, Tokai Teio. Teio introduces her new racewear with Mejiro McQueen, who also introduces hers. Dia mentions that she admires McQueen and Kita does the same but with Teio.

The race starts, with most of it being dominated by McQueen until Teio appeared. The duo were side by side and accelerated with all of their might in the last spurt. This spurt inspired Dia and Kita to chase their dreams. Finally Teio and McQueen with Nice Nature (who placed third) sing Run for Our Dream! for the winning concert.

Episode 2- Toward Our Dreams

After the race, Kitasan and Diamond are talking about it when they start to argue for who was the better racer between Teio and McQueen. After this, they talk about their dreams. Kita says that she wants to be someone who makes people happy like Teio and his dad do. Dia responds that she wants to win G1 races and be someone who meets everyone's expectations like McQueen does. Noticing the time, the duo started running because they were about to arrive late to their dorms.

In the end, they didn't manage to arrive on time and the dorm leader made them do a week's worth of cleaning duty. The next day, the two were talking about this while cleaning when they heard a scream.
