Admire Vega is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. She's one of the protagonists of the OVA ROAD TO THE TOP, alongside T.M. Opera O and Narita Top Road.
Biography
"I made a promise... to that shining star. That I would win, even if I have to do it alone."
The lone star that shines brightest. She carries the weight of her immense resolve.
A somewhat gloomy Umamusume who tends to avoid company. A certain tragedy that took place early in her life affects her deeply, even making her racing activities seem like an attempt to atone. Though she doesn't intend it, her stoic pessimism garners the interest and concern of those around her, and she often gets caught up in the antics of T.M. Opera O, one of her racing peers.

Appearance
Admire Vega fashions her long brown hair into a low ponytail, tied at the back by a white bow. She has two black star-shaped accessories at the base of her ears. Her right ear has a blue cover on it, bearing a star design. Her eyes are a pink color, which surround her round, small pupils.
Her race outfit consists of a blue dress with gold trim, ornaments, and belts at the front, in addition to two golden zipper pulls. Two star-shaped ornaments hang down at her blue skirt, which has black stripes separating streaks of blue. A white necktie hangs down over her chest, bearing a familiar star design. Her left shoulder has a cloth-like navy blue pauldron with gold trim. Her arms and legs both sport black tights. An elbow pad sits on each arm, held in place by a blue ribbon, and jeweled with a blue gem. She wears a white gauntlet on her left hand. A belt lies over her leggings on both legs, at the thigh. She wears black and white color-mismatched, golden-heeled shoes, each with a blue trim.
Relationships
- Narita Top Road - Classmate and rival. Top Road's persistence in approaching her has greatly changed her.
- T.M. Opera O - Rival. Ayabe finds her grandiose overconfidence annoying.
- IRL, T.M. Opera O, Narita Top Road, and Admire Vega shared the Triple Crown races in 1999, with Ayabe winning the Japanese Derby.
- Curren Chan - Roommate and close friend. Curren has been friends with Ayabe long enough to adapt to her standoffish behavior, so she is one of the few people who notice when something is seriously off with her.
- IRL, Curren Chan lost her half-brother, Spring Song, to colic. While never confirmed, it is most likely that the two were paired as roommates as they both lost someone considered close to them.
- Meisho Doto - Friend of the same generation. Ayabe is willing to tell Doto what she needs to hear.
- Silence Suzuka - Friend. Ayabe and Suzuka occasionally stargaze together on the school roof.

- Her initial character profile was uploaded to the official Twitter account on June 8, 2017.
- This tweet was a character name prediction quiz, that encouraged fans to try and guess which horse she's named after. The hint was "She aims to rise above adversity and reach the top of the Twinkle Series for the sake of her twin sister, who died shortly after her birth."
- Her nickname is Ayabe, but in real life, it was Adobe (a portmanteau of "Adomaiya Bega").
- The nickname Ayabe is still a portmanteau of her full name, just in a different order (Adomaiya Bega). It was likely changed as Ayabe is pronounced the same as an existing Japanese surname, 綾部.
- She is very fond of fluffy things.
- This is shown multiple times, including in an event where she forgets to add softener to her favorite towel, in a cameo appearance during Beginning of a New Era, and more.
- Ayabe's IRL counterpart had a similar story of their twin sibling dying before their birth.
- IRL, a mare carrying twin horses is highly risky and usually, one has to be aborted to save the other. The real-life Admire Vega therefore technically had a twin brother, but Ayabe was chosen to survive instead. Both ROAD TO THE TOP and the game reference this, but the gender is swapped to female as Ayabe's sibling was also an Umamusume.
- In astronomy, the star Vega of the constellation Lyra is a first-magnitude star, which is also why Ayabe oftentimes references wanting to become one.
