Mihono Bourbon is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.
Biography
"Target acquired. Commencing Operation: Triple Crown."
Always follows commands! The cyborg Umamusume.
An Umamusume also known as the "Cyborg". She views the world through the lens of programming and databases, carrying out her objectives in an expressionless and robotic manner. Even so, she is not an emotionless machine—her constant training since her youth has simply resulted in less interactions with people, leading to her current personality. Underneath that robotic shell, she does indeed have feelings.[1]

Appearance
Mihono Bourbon's hair is a de-saturated pink color that reaches to the end of her back. Both her bangs and the rest of her hair appear to be voluminous, and she has a large ahoge coming from the top of her head. On the top of her head she wears a silver headband, with a futuristic antenna-like decoration composed of two diamonds coming from the left side of her head. On her right ear, she wears a singular light blue glowing ring. She has blue eyes with a light blue ring around her pupils.
Her race outfit is as futuristic as they come. She wears a white leotard and a light gray miniskirt with several high tech accessories. Around her neck is a metal collar, and at the end of this is a glowing pink tie with a yellow circle at the top. On her arms are two gray compression sleeves. At the top of her sleeves are two glowing rings, one pink, and one blue, and at the end are gray metal cuffs. Around her tail she has two pink and black floating rings. Her skirt has two speaker-like apparatuses on either side, with metal protrusions coming out from the front. On her legs she wears white thigh-high socks with a gray stripe at the base. Her shoes are made completely of metal and have a pink glowing stripe in the center. Coming off of both of her shoes are two metal wing-like plates.
Relationships
- Nishino Flower - Roommate
- Rice Shower - Best Friend and Rival. Bourbon is the object of Rice Shower's admiration, with Bourbon occasionally helping train Rice.
- In real life, Rice Shower infamously beat Mihono Bourbon at the 1992 Kikuka Sho, denying him the 1992 Triple Crown in an upset victory. Prior to this, he had come 2nd to Bourbon in the 1992 Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby).
- Sakura Bakushin O - Friend and classmate. Bakushin O considers Mihono Bourbon a rival in the Classics, even though they don't run the same distances at all...
- The two of them, alongside Rice Shower, debuted in the same 1992 generation. While Sakura Bakushin O was initially expected to run in the Classics due to his strong middle and long focused pedigree, he only ran in a distance higher than 1,600m once. He was entered in the 1992 Spring Stakes, a Satsuki Sho trial race at 1,800m. There he was thoroughly defeated (a miserable 12th place) by Mihono Bourbon, with Rice Shower also placing 4th.
- Smart Falcon - Friends. Leader of the Runaway Sisters Umadol group that Bourbon is a member of. Smart Falcon easily sees past Mihono Bourbon's cold persona, and thinks she has a heart of gold.
- Transcend - Classmates. Transcend attempts to help Mihono Bourbon with her inability to use technology correctly, but to no avail.
- Ines Fujin, Maruzensky, Silence Suzuka - Fellow Runaway Sisters.

Trivia
- Her initial character profile was uploaded to the official Twitter account on May 18, 2017.
- This tweet was a character name prediction quiz, that encouraged fans to try and guess which horse she's named after. The hint was "She is a hard-working genius who stoically completes an overwhelming amount of practice. Her strange appearance has led to rumors that she may be a cyborg."
- Race uniform design notes from Umamusume Pretty Derby Artworks Vol.02:
- The mecha-oriented design is inspired by Bourbon's "cyborg" nickname, given to him by the horse's stable for his steady running style.
- Jockey silk colors featuring pink with yellow circles inspire a design where yellow circles are found on Bourbon's chest and feet.
- Silver hair ornaments are meant to reference IRL Bourbon's white leather bridle, specifically the headpiece and cheek piece.
- Her trainable unit's name "MB-19890425" may be interpreted as "Mihono Bourbon, 1989/04/25". The date is the day Bourbon was foaled (born).[2]
- She owns a pet bunny.
- While she calls the trainer "Master" in the Japanese version, she calls them "Trainer" in the global version, though "Master" is still heard in her voice lines. This also extends to her Valentine's alternate costume animation, where the chocolate she holds says "Trainer", but it was originally "Master" in the Japanese version.
