Autumn Skies and Horse Girls (天高く、ウマ娘燃ゆる秋, Ten Takaku, Umamusume Moyuru Aki) is the 6th episode of the 1st season of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby anime.
Plot
Team Spica has more members, and now they're enjoying the Fall Twinkle Series Fan Appreciation Fair.
Summary
Spe writes to her mother about the Takarazuka Kinen race, where Suzuka beat Groove. Also, Mejiro McQueen formally joins Team Spica and they all go on a beach trip. The following day is a special event known as the Fall Twinkle Series Fan Festival an event that Suzuka is looking forward to attending.
On the day of the event, everyone in Team Spica goes their separate ways. Teio visits Rudolf at a cafe, McQueen has her fortune told, and Spe along with Suzuka enjoy the festival together and run into a couple of fans of Suzuka. They then walk over to where an eating contest is being held with the prize being a large stuffed donut. By the end of the match a deliberation is held due to suspected cheating. As it turns out, one of the contestants, Super Creek furtively gave half of her remaining donuts to renown big eater, Oguri Cap. Because of this, Oguri wins the contest, although she gives the prize to Tamamo Cross, because she actually wanted it and Oguri simply wanted to eat some food.
At around dusk, Spe and Suzuka sit and eat cake with Grass and El. They talk about how Grass' comeback race is the Mainichi Okan where she'll race against Suzuka who also reveals that she's considering racing overseas. This inspires El to join in the race too, Spe wants to join as well, however, she has another race that conflicts with it. The group is then joined by the rest of Team Spica who all had an eventful time at the festival. That night, Spe and Suzuka have a heart to hear about how thankful Suzuka was for meeting Spe and joining Team Spica. When Suzuka is finished, fireworks are set off and the two enjoy watching them go off.
Sometime later, Grass does training around the track and is reprimanded by her trainer Hana not following her plan. Although Grass wants to win the Mainichi Okan, Hana tries to dissuade Grass from taking that race seriously and solely focus on winning a G1 race.
Afterward, Trainer meets with Hana at a bar and is informed about Hana's concern for Grass. They then briefly talk about Team Spica and finally Trainer asks to Hana to pay for his drink, which makes Hana sigh a deep sigh. In their dorm room, Spe watches as Suzuka practices for the upcoming race.
The day of the Manichi Okan arrives and Suzuka takes the lead at the start of the race while Grass is dead last, but manages to get to third behind El in 2nd and Suzuka in 1st. Suzuka wins in the end, leaving El mortified by her first loss and Grass is embraced by Hana, who says she will peak in the next G1 race.
