The Unity Cup was once a team competition that was held at Tracen Academy, but the event had been long forgotten, lost to the tides of time... until now.

The students have requested that the event is to be held again. Umamusume who were once rivals now team up in this exciting competition. At the same time, Director Akikawa has been summoned for a long-term business trip overseas. The stern-looking Riko Kashimoto has been installed as acting director in her absence, bringing dark clouds over Tracen Academy...

Full Story Summary
As quickly as the Unity Cup arrived, it is cancelled, as Riko Kashimoto makes sweeping changes to the academy's operations. Her approach is the polar opposite of Director Akikawa's laid-back attitude. She wants to micromanage every aspect of the students' activities, including training schedules, meals, sleep, and outings, in the name of ensuring their well-being and preventing them from being injured from any rash decisions. However, this has a terrible effect on the mood of the students.

When the students challenge her on this, she insists that her methods are better than what came before, as shown by the abilities of the Umamusume she has been training, Bitter Glasse and Little Cocon, the formidable runners of Team Zenith. She places a wager: she will reinstate the Unity Cup, and after three years, her team will race against the academy's best team. If she wins, this will prove that her totalitarian management system is superior, and Operation Oversight will be fully implemented on Tracen Academy.

In classic year, your team members are struggling to balance their unique personalities against trying to avoid rocking the boat, and their team flow is disrupted as a result. In an effort to get them out of this rut, you schedule a practice race against Team Zenith. They lose the last race by a decent margin, and Little Cocon's cold, mechanical approach to running leaves your team intimidated by her power. Rice Shower feels particularly to blame for the loss, because she lost the 5th race tiebreaker, as well as her belief that she's unlucky. Thinking she's dragging the team down, she decides to quit. But when your team realises that their individual personalities make them stronger, Rice feels supported enough to return to the team, who resume working as one towards their goal of defeating Team Zenith.

In senior year, your team holds another practice race, and loses only by a nose. Even though Team Zenith still won, Little Cocon is shocked by your team's massive improvement, and begins wondering if Tracen's laid-back socialising is a good recipe for training after all. While still respecting Kashimoto, Little Cocon begins to doubt her methods. She organises training with Team Zenith in secret to try to surpass the limits of what Kashimoto thought they were capable of. Kashimoto sees this shift in the balance and is taken by self-doubt.

It is revealed that Kashimoto's strict oversight was the result of an incident some years prior. She used to be a more easygoing trainer, but after a tragic injury to her trainee, she felt it was preventable, and couldn't forgive herself for letting the Umamusume out of her sight. She's worried that the same thing will reoccur without her methods, which is why she plans in such minute detail. But after seeing the improvement in your team, she has to admit that her own methods may not be the best for her trainees.

Regardless of whether your team wins the Unity Cup, Team Zenith requests more freedom in their own activities from then on. Kashimoto apologises for her misguided ways, steps down as acting director, and Tracen Academy remains in harmony.

Unity Cup

The Unity Cup is a series of 5 races, each run as a team. It includes all distances on turf and a mile race on dirt. Up to three Umamusume can be present in each race. The format is very similar to Team Trials, but the Unity Cup is contained within a single Career playthrough. Before each set of Unity Cup races, the team can be manually changed.

The team initially starts with the trainee and Umamusume from Support Cards. Throughout the playthrough, more Umamusume will join the team.

Having a scenario link character allows their associated team name to be picked. With no scenario links, the name will default to Team Carrot.

There is a preseason race every six months. You are presented 3 NPC teams to choose to race against of varying difficulty. Winning a preseason will increase your team's rank, and more difficult matches will increase it by more. If you lose, your team's rank goes down. There are 4 preseason races in Career.

Unity Cup Finals

After achieving all goals and passing Senior Year Late December, you will challenge Kashimoto's Team Zenith in the Unity Cup Finals. If you win the Unity Cup finals, you will get a gold skill depending on the team name you picked at the end of the playthrough.

Powerhouse race

Content in this section is currently exclusive to the Japanese version.

During the 4th Preseason race, you can select a "Powerhouse Team", highlighted with pink, to race against if you are ranked 10th or higher, have a team rank of A or higher, and have triggered at least one Zenith Spirit Burst.

If you beat the Powerhouse team, you will face a powered up version of "Team Zenith" in the Unity Cup Finals. Defeating the team increases your chance of getting the "Unity Cup" scenario trait.

S and S+ Team Rank

If you manage to get an S rank in overall team stats, you will automatically get an event that awards a hint for the "Now I'm Pumped!" skill. This hint is normally at level 1, but will be level 3 if you're training one of the scenario link characters (e.g. Haru Urara).

Reaching S+ rank will allow you to get another hint for the "Now I'm Pumped!" skill. This means you can obtain the maximum Skill Hint level by reaching S+ rank with one of the scenario link characters.

EX: URA Finale

After the Unity Cup Finals, the scenario includes 6 extra turns for the URA Finale, as in the scenario The Beginning: URA Finale.

Defeating Team Zenith will make Little Cocon and Bitter Glasse appear in the URA Finale Finals.

Unity Training

After an Umamusume has joined your team, they may appear in training alongside your support cards.

Unlike support cards, they do not provide skill hints, do not have a friendship gauge, and cannot perform Friendship Training. Instead, they have a spirit gauge and can perform Unity Training.

When the icon appears on a team member in training, you can perform Unity Training with them. Performing Unity Training will increase all attributes of that team member. Unity Training is more effective if multiple team members participate at the same time.

Unlike Friendship Training, which can only occur in each support card's favourite training facility, team members do not have a specialty type and may perform Unity Training in any training facility.

Spirit Burst

Unity Training will fill the team member's spirit gauge by 1/4. Once it's full, a Spirit Burst will trigger the next time that member would be able to do Unity Training. Your trainee will receive drastically more stats, you will receive skill hints, and the team's abilities will increase. That team member's spirit gauge is then archived and cannot be filled again in this Career playthrough, though they can still perform Unity Training.

A Spirit Burst training turn costs much more energy than usual, except for Wit training, where it recovers much more energy.

The skill hints obtainable from Spirit Burst are based on the aptitudes of your trainee that are A-rank or higher. They aren't related to the team member you trained with.

Exclusive Skills

Hints for these are given in Late November of the Senior Year during the event "Team Zenith Declares War". The hint given depends on the team's ranks in each stat and also the number of Spirit Bursts to that point.

Note – If there is a tie for the highest-ranked stat, the hint is selected randomly from the highest-ranked stats. For example, if Speed and Power are both Rank S while Stamina, Guts and Wit are all Rank A and 10 Spirit Bursts are triggered, then the hint could be for Burning Spirit SPDBurning Spirit SPD
