Yayoi Akikawa is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. She is Tracen Academy's director and chairwoman, and the main focus of the Gourmet Festival scenario.

"Greetings! I hereby welcome you to Tracen Academy! Now, go forth, and make your Umamusume's dreams come true!"
Behold! Akikawa is the director of Tracen Academy. Behind her exuberant tone and behavior lies a strong will to support all Umamusume. Her generous out-of-pocket support has earned her the respect and gratitude of the students, as well as some stern talking-tos from her secretary Tazuna.

- Tazuna Hayakawa - Secretary, and a friend. Together, they ensure everything in Tracen works like a clockwork, and provide much needed aid to all Umamusume.
- Riko Kashimoto - Acting Director while Akikawa is away for business trips.
- Matikanetannhauser - The Director has a particular eye on Tannhauser and expects highly of her, encouraging Tannhauser to inspire her peers.
- IRL, Matikanetannhauser was sired by Northern Taste, the horse that the Director is speculated to be based on.

Trivia
- Despite appearing human, Akikawa is often speculated to be an Umamusume based on Northern Taste, a Canadian racehorse that was brought to Japan as a breeding stallion, eventually becoming the grandsire of multiple successful racehorses in Japan.
- The cat that always accompanies Akikawa may be a reference to the stray cat that befriended Northern Taste and lived in his stable, as they have similar coats.
- Her birthday is listed in-game as March 15, which is Northern Taste's birthday as well.
- Despite being "human", Akikawa has a white streak across the left size of her hair which no other human should have, also mirroring Northern Taste's large white blaze which covers the left of his face.
- The words on her fan change depending on what emotion she's currently trying to convey.
