"A 'Mecha Umamusume' has appeared at Tracen Academy.
It's a robot created by the genius professor Sugar Lights.
Still an early model, it has a lot of issues to resolve... let's enhance it and make the professor's dream come true!"
Hashire! Meka Umamusume -Yume Tsunagu Hatsumei- (走れ!メカウマ娘 -夢繋ぐ発明-) is a scenario playable in Career Mode. It was added as the 9th permanent scenario in the game on October 29, 2024. The gameplay is centered on the concept of assisting the Umamusume professor Sugar Lights with her invention, the mecha Umamusume ST-2.
Story
This page contains spoilers. Proceed with caution! |
Professor Sugar Lights, a former student of Tracen Academy, is disabled and can no longer run. In pursuit of her dream to run once again, she develops the 'full-dive' robot ST-2, aka 'Sati'. Sugar Lights can operate the robot with her mind, controlling its limbs and seeing through the system as if it was her own body.
Despite the scientific triumph presented by Sati, there are still a number of barriers preventing the professor from being able to run the way she used to. First, Sati itself is limited in its performance and requires further iteration and fine-tuning. Equally pressing is the professor's physical condition: Sugar Lights' movements are weak and unrefined. The robot body was only part of the equation, and her mental condition is discovered to be an equally important component. To address these concerns, Sugar Lights returns to Tracen Academy to recruit her 'assistants': Air Shakur, Biwa Hayahide, Narita Taishin, Symboli Kris S, Tanino Gimlet, and the player's selected trainee.
Sugar Lights, the player, and the assistants work together to gather data to improve Sati and Sugar Lights' physical condition. Ultimately, despite the research the player carries out, Sugar Lights' growth, and the advancement of Sati's technology, Sugar Lights gradually cannot improve her times. She realizes that she has already overcome her past self, and has ultimately accomplished her goal.
Mechanics
Scenario gameplay revolves around filling the Overdrive Gauge, the collection of Research Levels, and the acquisition of Mecha EN.
The player's goals are filling the Gauge to unlock powerful Overdrive training turns, balancing stat trainings to acquire the sufficient number of Research Levels to pass each Upgrade Exam, and receiving high Exam scores to maximize the Mecha EN awarded for tuning ST-2. At the end of each Upgrade Exam, the player has the opportunity to allocate Mecha EN to upgrade ST-2's parts and improve training effects.

Tazuna's Tip
Tazuna's TipThis is unofficial advice!
To maximize the number of Overdrive turns in a run, it is generally recommended to avoid 'overcharging' the Overdrive Gauge. To avoid 'overcharge', activate an Overdrive when two are stored. Activating Overdrive with 2/3rds of the Gauge full is just as efficient.
Each turn, there is an opportunity to energize the Overdrive Gauge once. The Gauge can be energized by selecting a stat training facility with a Mecha Gear icon, using the rest or recreation facilities, or entering a race.
Energizing the Overdrive Gauge three times stores one Overdrive. Two Overdrives can be stored until the Gauge is full and can no longer be further energized.
Activating an Overdrive causes increased stat gain and increases the friendship acquired for supports that turn.

Upgrade Exam

Every 12 turns following the debut race, an Upgrade Exam (UGE) occurs. ST-2's performance is evaluated on the total number of Research Levels collected at the time of the exam. If the gauge representing the number of Research Levels acquired is full, the player earns an S rank on the exam and the largest amount of Mecha EN to use for tuning ST-2.
Research Levels are acquired by selecting stat training facilities. The number of Research Levels gained is proportional to the stat gain of the turn, meaning that a turn that results in a Speed gain of 10 would also result in the gain of 10 Research Levels. The number of research levels that can be acquired from each stat has a cap that increases upon each successive Upgrade Exam.
After completing the trainee's story objectives, the player enters permanent overdrive mode during URA Finale trainings.
Tuning
Once pre-debut and after each Upgrade Exam, the player has the opportunity to tune ST-2 using Mecha EN. ST-2 has six 'chips' separated between three cores. Allocating Mecha EN to a chip will activate and increase the effect of the chip, and the total amount of Mecha EN allocated within a core provides additional passive effects upon meeting allocation thresholds.
