Final Third is a character in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, featured in the Star Blossom manga.

Biography

"I'll be able to surpass them. That's what I believed."

Final Third is an Umamusume with unknown team affiliation, and makes her first notable appearance in Chapter 55 of Star Blossom "First Dream of the Year". Prior to her major appearance as an antagonist, she had a successful career with 3 wins over 5 races. She first beat Dance Limerick at the Wakaba Stakes before becoming one of many racers to face Narita Brian at the Satsuki Sho.

Prior to her battles against Narita Brian, she was a hopeful and down-to-earth person. She would lose the Satsuki Sho, motivating Final Third to undergo rigorous training believing that as long as she had the will to keep going she could eventually surpass Brian. Despite this, she and everyone else in the Derby would lose to Narita Brian by a massive margin, causing Final Third to fall into despair. Nightmares of her races against Narita Brian would haunt her in her sleep, causing Final Third to become visibly worn and tired. Considering Narita Brian a monster, she would continue racing with a different goal in mind. From then on, she would aim to prevent other Umamusume from suffering the same despair and fate as her by purposefully increasing the pace of races to wear down her opponents into giving up.

Trivia

  • Due to her role in the story, she is likely based off the real-life horse Offside Trap who won the 1998 Tenno Sho (Autumn) in which Silence Suzuka would experience an injury that caused the real horse to be euthanized.
