In 2026, for April Fool's Day and to mark the 30th anniversary of the Makibaō anime, the 5th anniversary of the Umamusume mobile game in Japan and the Year of the Horse in the Zodiac calendar, Umamusume collaborated with Makibaō featuring six Umamusume whose names end in O. The collaboration includes videos and merchandise.

Collaboration Components

  • The Makibaō anime opening but with the Umamusume in place of the other horses.[1]
    • Hashire Umamusume (performed by the six Umamusume in the collaboration) is the opening theme as both it and the Makibaō opening theme, Hashire Makibaō by F.MAP, are covers of Hashire Kotaro by Salty Sugar.
  • A brief clip of the Makibaō ending theme performed by Men's 5 with Makibaō dancing in a tuxedo but as Tottemo Umamimi (とってもウマミミ; Feels Umamimi) instead of Tottemo Umanami (とってもウマナミ; Super Delicious).[2]

The silhouette of Makibao with Tamamo Cross' headband and lightning from Encounter of the O's
  • An animated short entitled "Episode 0: Encounter of the 'O's". During the short, there is a segment where Makibaō is surrounded by white lightning and has Tamamo Cross's headband in reference to Makibaō also being based on Tamamo Cross.[3]
