Background
Ruriko was born in Saitama Prefecture. She first became conscious of the voice acting profession when she was in junior high school. When she entered high school, she joined the broadcasting club, where she worked in production, advertising, and announcer work[1]. She went to university with the aim of working in broadcasting, and in 2009 (her first year of university), she passed the 3rd Seiyuu Award Newcomer Audition and joined Atomic Monkey.
Ruriko is a dedicated gamer, and played series like Dragon Quest and Mario as young as 2 or 3 years old. She's even said that she may have learned how to hold a controller before how to hold a pencil[2]. In particular, she adores the Legend of Zelda franchise, and has played all the games, even saying she plays through Majora's Mask every couple of months[3]. She has since gone on to work with Nintendo, both as a voice actress for Hyrule Warriors Legends, and being the host of events such as Legend of Zelda's 30th anniversary concert[4]. She has worked with Nintendo to promote multiple other game series, such as Splatoon[5].
