Some speculation about Admire Vega's dam (Vega) and their possible connection to the franchise

Vega, Admire Vega's dam was a racehorse that competed from 1993 to 1994, with a racing record of 9: 4-1-1. She was also well known for winning both the Oka Sho and the Yūshun Himba (Japanese Oaks), the first two races of the Japanese Triple Tiara. However, what really piqued my interest was the 1993 Arima Kinen. At the time I had watched season two of the original anime, I had been looking at the real life horses participating in the actual races. I noticed pretty easily that a majority of the horses had their names 'changed', which I assumed was because of legal reasons, and that the producers would face consequences if they featured a real-life horse without permission. Realizing that, I connected the placings of the Umamusume in the anime to the actual placings. Then, I looked at the jockey silks to make sure that my suspicions were true. If I'm correct, the placing would be El Casa River (Spur Mover), Sekitei Ryu O (Duo Priwen), Vega (Pella), Tokai Teio, Wish Dream (Avec Dream), Rice Shower, White Stone (Vice Stone), Matikanetannhauser, Legacy World (Relic Earth), L-Way Win (Fermented Win), Winning Ticket, Nice Nature, Biwa Hayahide, and Mejiro Palmer. At the time, I didn't think much of it. However, when I watched Road to the Top and had a newfound curiosity about the main cast, I looked into the pedigrees of each horse. When I found that Vega was Admire Vega's dam, I looked farther in for a possible connection. The jockey silks looked rather similar to the Umamusume's racewear, the horse and horse girl both placed 9th, and both started in the third gate. At this point, there was no way it was simply a coincidence.

Yapping aside, It's true that Cygames has a tendency to incorporate small details that most people tend to overlook. This includes references within racewear and ear accessories, personalities, and Transcend jumpscaring you when you put her solo song under a sound wave analyzer. Some of them are hidden in seemingly strange places. Take Special Week wearing a slice of cake on her head. This was during season two (the Hanshin Daishoten, to be specific). With zero context, she watches the race with it on her head. The actual reference was that Yutaka Take (Special Week's jockey) had his birthday on the same exact day on a different year. While I don't understand exactly why they decided to input it, it's a small details that can connect to many more just from its roots.

What I'm thinking is that the wiki could have a page where it lists actual horses featured in the game, anime, or other media and their 'other names', per say. While it may seem useless or impractical, I can confirm that reference sheets are my savior when it comes to researching just about anything. That goes beyond people needing it for practical use; some people in the Umamusume community have large amounts of interest in the actual history, and this would prove to be useful for them. Uncovering the secrets of a franchise is one of the things a wiki does, and there's bound to be more out there. I know I'm still not too experienced in editing in itself, but I want to strive to improve both my skills and my worth as an editor. If this is a terrible idea, then that's fine. If not, I would greatly appreciate any person who is willing to commit to something. We, as editors, work to improve the wiki as best as possible, and I hope that whoever reads this monstrosity of a message will see that.

It sounds interesting but compiling a full list of all the horses referenced in Umamusume could be too long. I think if you want to reference how Vega is Ayabe's mom in Uma you can just write in Ayabe's trivia page that it's hinted that her mom is Vega in some of her career events. That sounds just as good, then. Is it better to add a screenshot/photo of the Umamusume along with the trivia or just leave it as is? KeepCalmAndMambo (talk) 16:34, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't think you need to add a photo tbh. Suirob2005 (talk) 16:38, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
