Fair blue skies, scorching rays of sun.
The comfort of the passing breeze,
and the warmth of the tea I drink.
If only I could etch them all into my memory without flaw.
Yet, I know I will forget one day.
The memories will fade,
chased away by those more vivid,
until no longer clear in my mind's eye.
But if I hold on to one,
may it be of this smile of hers.
Amid the days passing by,
this is no more than a fleeting, everyday moment.
Yet here we sat side by side,
this nostalgia its own proof.
For if I can but remember her smile,
even if all else were to be lost to time,
I will know that there will come a day
when I may enjoy the taste of this tea once more.
