Inspiration is a game system in Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

Overview

When starting Career Mode with a new trainee, two Veteran Umamusume must be selected to be the trainee's legacies (colloquially referred to as "parents"). Through Inspiration, these legacies can pass on the Sparks they acquired, as well as the Sparks of the legacies (colloquially referred to as "grandparents") they themselves were inspired by.

Inspiration is triggered during three different phases: the initial inspiration event at the start of the career, the Classic year inspiration event, and the Senior year inspiration event.

Initial Inspiration

Initial inspiration happens at the start of the career. When selecting the two Veteran Umamusume to use for inspiration, the game will preview the stat increases the trainee will gain from initial inspiration based on the Blue and Pink Sparks of her legacies, and that of each of their two legacies selected.

Stats gained from Blue Sparks during initial inspiration scale based on the Blue Spark star total of each individual legacy and sub-legacy for that specific type of Blue Spark.

For example: Legacy 1 has a 1* Blue Spark for Speed, and both of her sub-legacies have a 2* Blue Spark for Guts. Legacy 2 has a 3* Blue Spark for Stamina, one of her sub-legacies has a 3* Blue Spark for Power, and the other has a 1* Blue Spark for Speed. The new trainee will start the Career Mode with +10 Speed, +21 Stamina, +21 Power and +24 Guts.

Blue Spark Stars 1* 2* 3*
Stat Increase +5 +12 +21

Raising aptitude during initial inspiration with Pink Sparks is based on the cumulative total of all legacies and sub-legacies used for inspiration. For each type of Pink Spark, only 1 star is required to raise an aptitude by 1 stage, with 3 more stars required to raise that aptitude by another letter grade. During initial inspiration, Pink Sparks cannot raise the Track, Distance, and Strategy aptitudes higher than A rank; however, an A rank aptitude may be raised to S rank during the Classic and Senior year inspiration events. Additionally, aptitudes cannot be raised more than four grades during initial inspiration.

For example: If Legacy 1 and Legacy 2 with their respective sub-legacies combined bring a total of 12* Pink Sparks for Dirt, it is possible to increase a trainee's Dirt aptitude from G rank to C rank during initial inspiration.

Pink Spark Stars 1-3* 4-6* 7-9* 10-18*
Aptitude Increase +1 Grade +2 Grades +3 Grades +4 Grades

There is also a chance to obtain one to three hint levels for a legacy's unique skill through Green Sparks. If both legacies have Green Sparks, hint levels for both unique skills can be obtained.

Inspiration Events

Inspiration events will always trigger during Early April in Classic and Senior year. Blue, Pink, and White Sparks can all activate during these events.

Blue Sparks White Race Sparks White Skill Sparks
Spark Stars Stat gains Stat gains Skill hints
1* 1-10 3, 6, 9 Level +1-5
2* 1-16 3, 6, 9 Level +1-5
3* 1-28 3, 6, 9 Level +1-5

Affinity

Inspiration Sparks

Different types of Sparks provide different effects when inspired during the career.

Blue Sparks

Blue Sparks raise the main five stats: Speed, Stamina, Power, Guts, and Wit. The stat chosen for the Blue Spark is random, but getting more stars is more likely the higher the Veteran Umamusume has that stat. The approximate probabilities are listed in the table below.

Stat Value <600 600-1100 1100+
1* ~90% ~50% ~20%
2* ~10% ~45% ~70%
3* 0% ~6% ~10%

Pink Sparks

Pink Sparks raise Track, Distance, and Strategy aptitudes. The likelihood of obtaining a Pink Spark for a specific aptitude increases with the letter grade of the Veteran Umamusume's aptitude.

Aptitude G F E D C B A S
Track 10% 30% 50% 70% 80% 90% 100% 105%
Distance 10% 20% 40% 60% 80% 90% 100% 105%
Strategy 10% 20% 40% 60% 75% 85% 100% 110%

Green Sparks

Green Sparks provide hint levels for a legacy's unique skill. Veteran Umamusume that are three stars or higher automatically obtain Green Sparks, while Veteran Umamusume that are two stars or lower cannot obtain Green Sparks.

White Sparks

White Sparks provide stat bonuses and hint levels for skills.

White Skill Sparks can only be obtained for skills that the Veteran Umamusume learned, and will only provide hints for the base form of the skill, not the upgraded/gold version. However, learning the gold version of a skill will increase the odds of getting a Spark for the base version to 40%-70%.

If a White Skill Spark activates during the Classic and Senior year inheritance events, but the trainee has already learned that skill, it will instead give small stat bonuses. The exact amounts and probabilities are unknown.

White Race Sparks are obtained by Veteran Umamusume winning G1 races. These may provide stat bonuses, skill hint levels, or both.
