Glittering Ruby

Never satisfied with its own light, never weary, never ceasing or bowing, it hones itself, gleaming, glistening, shining.
Thus, the ruby was born, taking on a brilliant, splendid hue, cleaving the sky, cutting through the clouds, soaring towards the far future.

Daiichi Ruby was a Japanese racehorse that was active from 1990 to 1992. Known for her exceptional pedigree, she would become a top sprinter in Japan. Her fans would give her the nickname "Ojou-sama" (お嬢様).

Name Origin

Owned by Haruo Tsujimoto, with the crown name "Daiichi", horses owned by him in the mid 80s would be given names based on gemstones (Diamond, Sapphire, Jade). She would be named "Ruby".

Racing career

Two-year-old season (1989)

Daiichi Ruby would enter Trainer Ito's stable in November of 1989. Entering the stable late, she would not run as a 2 year old. Trainer Ito told Owner Tsujimoto, "If she ran now, she would definitely break down".
