			== Plot ==
			Teio stared blankly out the classroom window, her mind distant. The setting sun painted long shadows across the fields, but all she could see was the empty space where her dreams once stood. Her leg was injured again. It wasn’t nearly as bad as before, but it was enough. Enough to remind her that she's no longer undefeated. She lost the Triple Crown. There was nothing left. What was she to do now? McQueen suffered her own injury, a six-month recovery timetable that would keep her from the upcoming Takarazuka Kinen. The energy in Team Spica had shifted after the triumphant Tennoushou. Trainer did his best to keep the spirits high, but Teio was stuck in her own thoughts, trapped in pessimism.

			As McQueen sat out, the Takarazuka Kinen was claimed by Mejiro Palmer, who credited her win to Helios’s support. Meanwhile, Mihono Bourbon continued to carve her own legend, securing victory in the Japanese Derby. With two crowns in hand, she now stood at the doorstep of history, poised to challenge for the Triple Crown undefeated. Teio sat alone in her room, staring at the TV as Bourbon’s triumph was broadcast nationwide. Across the room, her whiteboard stood as a cruel reminder, the words ''Triple Crown'' and ''Undefeated'' now scratched out.

			Elsewhere, Trainer drowned in frustration at a bar, wallet and hope empty. Hana Toujou sat across from him, listening as he muttered about failing Teio. The spark that had once made her shine was gone. He spoke with the kind of pessimism that only a man at rock bottom could muster. Hana heard enough. Scolding him for the way he'd been acting. Smacking some sense into him, It was time to have some damn faith.

			The days passed, and as Teio walked through the academy halls, she caught a glimpse of a television airing the Kikkashou. Mihono Bourbon, the powerhouse who had seemed destined for the Triple Crown, did not cross the finish line first. Instead, it was Rice Shower who surged ahead, stealing the victory. The room was silent in disbelief. Bourbon, when asked how she felt about the loss, simply stated that she had ''learned'' something today.

			Teio didn’t know what to think. Learning from a loss, what is that? But she ''did'' know that she had seen more downs than ups recently. And in the Arima Kinen, it was nothing different. Teio wasn’t present, her thoughts wandered elsewhere. The Triple Crown. The streak. The dream of becoming like ''Prez''. What was the point of chasing something that no longer existed? Why was everyone trying so hard? Why was she still running? The finish line approached, but she wasn’t fighting for it. She crossed in ''eleventh place''.

			Her breath was shallow. As she looked toward the crowd, she couldn’t bring herself to meet their eyes. Instead, she turned away, retreating back to the dressing room. Standing before the mirror, Teio stared at her reflection. The frustration was boiling inside her, but there was something beneath it, something she couldn’t ignore. If she ''truly'' didn’t care anymore, then why did losing still hurt? The news broke the next day—Teio was injured again.

			In his own ridiculous way, Trainer tried to help. On Teio hung a sash with the bold letters "Leader" given by trainer''.'' Teio groaned. Trainer grinned. The role felt like nothing more than glorified chores. Fixing heels, making rice balls, washing their towels. Watching her teammates push themselves, she found herself asking questions. Not just to them, but to herself. ''Why do you race?'' Maybe Vodka and Scarlet weren't the best choice for such a question though. Trainer, however understood Teio wasn’t just going through the motions anymore. She was searching for a reason to run.

			Wearing her ridiculous sash, Teio sat uncomfortably on the train, sent off to a destination in the countryside thanks to Trainer. Stepping off at her stop she was met by the Mejiro family butler. He escorts her through a path deep in the woods until they reached a hidden estate. The Mejiro family's private sanatorium—an onsen and a training ground rolled into one. And waiting for her was Mejiro McQueen.

			As they bathed together outside, Teio asks why she tries so hard? McQueen’s answer was simple, it was to become stronger and to defeat someone strong. Strength breeds strength. Competition pushes them forward. That was why McQueen hoped for Teio’s recovery. Because the person she wanted to beat the most was ''her''. The Tennoushou may have been McQueen’s victory, but it was a race that suited her strengths. That wasn’t enough. She wanted to test herself against Teio on ''her'' playing field.
